FIFA 17 News & Discussion Thread

I can’t get enough of this game! The defensive AI in the first game was insane lol

I am the guy who's commenting on the recent videos of your YouTube channel, by the way.. 😂

Watched it when it got uploaded and given a like. But couldn't comment at that time. I am speechless! 3 Penalties in a row!! In a single game!! Brilliant!

FIFA 17 is a polished game in terms of attacking AI, AI passing, tactical fluidity and team individuality (better than 16). But when they polished, they lost a few good things that were great in FIFA 16. Player individuality, collisions and physics, much more smarter defensive AI, (especially at the back) to name a few.. Oh well, how can I forget about the freakin ball size.. (it's small, lol).

First entry in Frostbite, came out just after FIFA 16 (which is still one of the best!), 1 year gap between them really saved this game from being dead by the arrival (slightly over-exaggerated, but you know what I mean) like later FIFA games..

Anyways, that's enough, I guess.. 🤣
Enjoyed your video, have fun!

Haha thanks a lot for the nice words! I've been playing this and PES 17 for nearly a decade now, and I don't think I'll ever stop

I enjoyed this game quite a bit back then, and I'm looking to play it again. Are there any mods or patches available? I searched and cant find anything...

I reinstalled Fifa 17 a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it. There don't seem to be many mods available, a couple of GP ones but that was about it. I'd love a camera mod that is similar to the EA broadcast camera that was included since Fifa 23 and a mod to make the ball a bit bigger (although I understand that its just not possible). I thought the ball size would really bother me but its ok

I am building a gameplay mod that builds upon the existing mods of the community. Will post a link here when it's ready.

Had a great time earlier today holding up play and shielding while my teammates darted runs into the box for some 1-2 passing and goals.

Late in the game, I won the ball in an advanced position and the opposing team has a strong numerical advantage, while I was holding the ball and shielding, waiting for my teammates to push up and the AI defense sent a second defender to snatch the ball away.

Plug for why you should play this title over the modern ones.

I can't get enough of Fifa 17 at the moment - absolutely loving it

playing FUMA with OS sliders and now with the bigger ball mod and I can't believe how good it is. Everything feels great, inertia, physicality, passing, shooting, pace. Playing on professional and I'm finding it tough to get past the AI (which might be more to do with playing on FUMA)

Graphically its much better than the more recent FC titles - I can't play daytime/sunny weather matches on those as it just looks awful. This has better AI, graphics, commentary, animations, AI that crosses, shoots from distance, makes long passes, commits fouls - just superb

I'm trialling FC 26 but much preferring this. the AI in FC26 is just pass, pass, pass. Hardly ever see it make long passes or crosses and fouls are non existent. Basic football fundamentals absent

Attacking AI is a bit dumb and too easy. The defensive part is good

Hi to all. Is there any mod, of Fifa 17 , which i can install without Frosty Manager? Gameplay, or facepacks maybe.
Just because i play on steam deck, and dont now how to run Frosty and Fifa 17 together.

Is there any way to change my team's stadium during career mode? I want to start my career in the lowest league in England, but after a few seasons, if I'm promoted to the Premier League, I'd like the team to play in a better stadium. Perhaps a save editor or something similar?

It's because exist feeling, that "goal was hard-earned' ... And it's cool feeling inside.
The same feeling exist during playing in PES 5, PES 6, WE 9 LE Games.
You're right, the defense in FIFA 17 is well-balanced, which means it's not easy to score. Unfortunately, it also works the other way around, meaning the CPU has even more trouble scoring. As a result, I've had a lot of draws throughout the season and conceded few goals. If I score the first goal, there's a very small chance the CPU will catch up and win the match. The AI's passive attacking play is the only, but significant, thing I don't like about this game. I've been trying different slider and locale.ini settings for a month now, but to no avail. FIFA 17 also seems to be not very sensitive to slider changes.

Though i think Fifa 17 is one of my favourite fifa games of all times, it has one major flaw.
Its simply too easy, regadless of sliders or difficulties, which is too bad, otherwise id play this as my nr1 fifa game.
I switched to 18 after my recent 5 seasons with Darmstad on 17 pretty much winning everything , and thas with a really crappy team.
Dont really see that on Fifa 18 where i have to work extremely hard to win games with my HSV.
One thing plaguing all fifa games bewtween 15-19 ( and before the first patch on Fifa 20) is the fact that teams (cpu ) rarely play their best lineup.
All my seasons on 17 i saw Lewandowski playing 10-15 games per season, and a team like Bayern winning the league on ridicously low points, like said all games between 15-10 has that issue,

enough ranting from me, but facts remaining that Fifa 17 is a very good game, maybe is should play it fuma for some challenge

My first season in Yeovil Town Career Mode is behind me. Despite 18 draws, I secured a play-off spot in the EL Two. I conceded very few goals (34 in 46 matches). I easily won promotion in the play-offs. Now in EL One, it's a bit more difficult, with better teams, so I've set the sliders to extremes: shot and pass errors for the CPU at 15, marking at 90, speed and acceleration +1 for the CPU. My goalkeeper at 25, my marking at 15. This looks promising, as in the five matches I've played, I have a 1-2-2 record and 9 goals conceded. CPU scored in every match, and each one was demanding. It's also true that after promotion, due to the board's absurd financial targets, I didn't strengthen the team much. We'll see how this season goes...
