I saw @Sany023 posting various classics from our childhood like NFS III, GTA1 or Max Payne, games that are improved or overhauled by modders, so I also like to share two projects made by talented people that improved two great classics, titles that still stands the test of time to this day:

1.- Brutal Doom V22

Download:

https://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom/downloads/brutal-doom-v22-beta-test-3
https://zdoom.org/downloads
https://archive.org/details/doom-doom-ii-collection-wad-files

For it to work will be needed as a base GZdoom available on the second link. After download, just decompress GZdoom, then in the same folder extract the file from Brutal Doom v22 .pk3 file directly there, then add in the same folder the specific original Doom 1 or Doom 2 ".wad" file used as base (in the third link is a pack with the .wads). Works with all original and custom ".wad" files and can be played with both keyboard or controller. (author of the mod: SgtMarkIV)

2.- Mortal Kombat Project 2026

Download:

This is the most recent version of classic MK enhanced in graphics with much more content and new mechanics. The only thing to do is to download it and decompress it in a folder, then just execute it. Works with both keyboard or controller. (author of the mod: Chino96 using an enhanced version of Borg117 project)

I am understand, certainly, that Doom and MK - also part of our childhood games, but still prefer to make installers for other kind of games.
Max Payne simply have unique game mechanics with Matrix mode, that's why decided to public it as a installer.

Of course, I totally agree with you. I know what you mean, there was that 3DFX period that had its charm in gaming between 1997 to 2003 with many great classics like Max Payne, Mafia, Soul Reaver, NFS III, Warcraft III, Diablo II and so on that are very unique to this day. I posted those two coz' are full modded conversions of what made those classics great, even though I certainly know that Doom & MK are from the MS-DOS era. Just wanted to continue the trend with classic gems... :D
