EA SPORTS FC 26

I agree with you. I gave the game a try at a friend's house after seeing people here praise it, but it really is horrible. The players are still as twitchy as ever, they can do a full 180 degree turn in a matter of milliseconds. The sliding issue is still present. Passing still feels unnatural. Shooting is probably the only thing I like about the game and even it is sometimes bad.

I can see the improvements but they're so few and far between the game is still unplayable, just like every FIFA released in the last couple years. I know some people like the game so it's not like the game is universally disliked but I just can't see EA ever releasing a new football game as good as pre 2019 FIFAs, if the rate of improvement is this glacial.
I agree with everything. I really, really have it a shot, as i do every year. 4-5 hours invested and i don't see it getting any better.

1000% agree, it's the weirdest thing! If you have a go at PES 2021 though, god help you - they play victim super fast.

Exactly right. If the ball was truly so free in PES 2021, we would see different types of goals all the time - different patterns, different outcomes and importantly - different SPEEDS. Every pass and shot is virtually the exact same speed in that game.
It's probably because PES 2021 visually looks good. The way animations, graphics, player models, physics looks in video is very nice. But when you get the controller, you will instantly see so many major issues with that game that it's simply not fun. Dribbling is unresponsive, CPU have like only 1 or 2 ways of scoring goals and only scoring certain types of goals. The positioning system is completely rigid and robotic where every player 100% always follows the formation and tactics regardless of attributes and in general, the game lacks huge amount of variety. I won't even mention how boring the master league is. So I do agree that it's a lot of fan boyism rather than actual football game feedback. But then again, some people really like the visual aspect of the game even if the fundamental is broken.

Pes21 is one of the worst football game i played. Most overrated football game ever.
Every PS2 pes is superior to It in terms of ball physics, variety on the pitch, players individuality and fun with pad... and this with all the limitations PS2 has.
Even if my favorites football games are on PS2, all fifas from 09 to 19 are good/great games too, and far superior to pes2021.
Fifas/FC after 20, even with all their problems which makes them bad games to me, are still better than pes21.

I agree on the general comments about PES 2021, but also, it riles me that it seems impossible to talk about FC without talking about PES / eFootball.

Just because (either) one is bad doesn't mean the other is good. They exist independently.

This isn't aimed at anyone in-particular, and again I agree with the general comments, but, it often acts as an excuse to shut down fair critique and negative opinion - as if saying "PES is worse" makes FC a 9/10 game, giving it licence to be poor because something worse exists, and burying any negative discourse.

(Also, there is a PES v FIFA thread for this reason.)

I don't understand the need for FIFA to start becoming PES. They were always different. Comparison between FIFA 17 and FC 26 is fine and we are missing a lot of good stuff from FIFA 17 but I think in general, we should mainly discuss FIFA/EA stuff in a FIFA/EA thread.

Exactly situation with PES 2020 and PES 2021 "as is".

In moments, it looks great.

It gives me hope for the future that it can have moments like these - and if pass accuracy etc. can be lowered, ball freedom increased, the rails removed, and more variety added to the gameplay as a result... It could be special one day (without needing mods).

(I'm always saying "maybe next year" and I'm not naïve enough to say that any more, but - maybe next-next year?)

I played the FC26 demo today after playing it a few weeks ago at a colleague's house.
In the game's animations, players should lose their balance several times and fall to the ground.
The game makes me angry and aggressive. The fact that I had previously searched Steam for games like Football, Soccer and Management was no less disappointing.

The state of football games is pathetic.

i agree with you totally, and still on this forum u will get people still defending this game and not admitting that cpu has only 2 ways of scoring goals,. it s so bad, the ps2 era had better games for sure

unfortunately yes.... and i have only 1 option now, is to play fifa 16 which to me still feels like every match is the same....

It's about how well you manage to hide repetetive things to not make it boring. Older pes is extremely "on rails" and "repetetive", but there are so many small details in animations and what not, that just makes it feel unique everytime you pass, shoot, dribble or score a goal. It's not even about player individuality, you could play with 22 players on the pitch with the exact same stats and still enjoy it. Trying to mimic real physics also helped. You can't blame game engines anymore since they managed to create that feeling almost 30 years ago.

It's about attention to detail in every part of the game, or the code. And passion. I can still play pes 5 or 6 and still get that adrenaline rush when scoring a late winner, because those games are so damn well made. I can still enjoy modern football games, but it's like trying to climax on antidepressive medicine. I don't feel anything even if I score the world cup final winner in the last second. Well, that's how I view the old vs the modern football games anyway.
i am in the same boat for a couple of years now.... stuck with nothing but fifa 16 with speedhack

Really enjoying the lofted ground pass and lofted through ball with manual controls. It was a little awkward at first but my method is to hold the power up like I normally would and then after I release, tap it again quickly. After some trial and error, I was able to play a bouncing ball into my player’s path, which has far less roll, letting my player run onto it, instead of it rolling to the other team. (Bonus tip: shoot the lofted through balls first time off the bounce for a half volley for some nice finishes.)

I also find the low driven cross much more suitable for crosses in general and for driven through balls. The standard cross/long pass is never the trajectory I actually want.

I’ve previously praised the shooting which first and foremost is just damn fun. Secondarily, I actually argue that it is realistic. Hard shots do dip and swerve. Curled shots do bend. Call the Power Shot a gimmick but if a player gets a three step run up, they can absolutely belt the ball.

Interesting. The actual lobbed pass is awful. You tap it and it goes straight up in the air. I guess because EA at some point decided you should be able to get the ball to whatever player you want to get it to, regardless of physics.

All i want to say is that the game plays much better when played on the training ground (learn to play). Passing works better, players move better, running defensive jockey works, even animation looks more grounded. I wish we could have that in kick-off and other modes. I can't explain why this happens.

This is something I also noticed even 2-3 years ago

Go to shooting line practice and score some goals ... then go to kick-of

It is much better movement, ball physics on shooting line

For me the answer is simple, this is because even exhibition matches are more or less scripted and the game prevents you from doing things that are too simple like in training mode.

I played one half on FC24 and one half on FC26.
I find it incredible that, tactically, the older game is actually better — and it confirms that FC‑IQ is far too rigid.Seeing Almería with 11 players behind the ball made me think: “Damn, now it’s going to be really hard to build an attack.” And I keep asking myself: why?For those of us who love offline gameplay… is this really the end of the road?
