• Hotmail/Outlook (any Microsoft email services) folks. Microsoft is currently blocking our emails. We have raised a support ticket with them and will update when we can.

    In the meantime it's possible that adding robot@evoweb.uk to your address book/contacts will help and if you're able to switch to a different email provider, that would work fine.

    We have also increased the number of bounce emails we can handle before accounts are marked as requiring verification again to hopefully mitigate the issue a bit as well.

What do you guys think about this Capello vs the FA stuff?

If I was a manager, I'd be fuming if people tried to do my job. But in the same time, I don't think Terry should be given the honour of being captain.
 
It's a difficult one, usually I would say to leave it to the manager but Terry is a dick :))

Also it is true nomatter how much I dislike Terry, he has had his captaincy removed before he has even been found guilty, it sort of goes against everything that a civilised society should do.

Terry shouldn't have had the armband in the first place.

Capello could have changed his captain when he came, yet he decided to keep Terry, so i don't see why the FA could not interfere in this instance.

And Capello is doing an awfull job as coach of the national team...i rated him very high as a coach, but his England period was not a good one.

Exactly. I said a couple of times how Rooney is one of the major divers in the modern game, now it seems Welbeck is learning it well! Ashley Young is another master of this art. There's also an extensive Steven Gerrard collection of simulation.
We also had Adam Johnson against Fulham, that was ridiculous!

It's amazing how commentators and pundits refrain from saying anything during the match, even after several replays. And even then on MOTD or other programs, they will give this cheating scum the benefit of the doubt!

But try and do the same if you are a foreigner... Just compare to the amount of stick that the likes of Torres, Suarez, or Nani get for doing the same thing, sometimes even less.
I still remember to this day all the repercussion Eduardo got for a dive against Celtic. He was even handed a 3-match ban (for a dive! I've never seen this...)
Sky Sports were running their media campaign against him and he was labelled a diver for the rest of his career in England. Back then he got much more criticised than the guy who had previously destroyed his leg.

English thugs can get away with violence apparently too. That guy Taylor, and then Shawcross, who broke Ramsey's leg, were all easily let off the hook by Sky Sports pundits, who said they're not "that kind of player". But God forbid a foreigner does something to an English player. Recently Balotelli accidentally stepped on Parker's head, and you get those geezers at Sky Sports almost calling for his head! Electric chair for Super Mario! :LOL:

Another thing that Gerd remembered the other day: the difference in treatment for Terry and Suarez in racism cases. Media coverage was different and so was the treatment given by authorities. Terry had his trial postponed until after the Euro, while Suarez gets an 8-match ban?!

This is a huge issue in English football currently IMO. The protection and different treatment given by refs, FA and media to English players. There's definitely a certain degree of xenophobia going on in the sport in this country.
 
The delay in the Terry case is because a member of the public reported him to the police, so he has the criminal case to deal with before the FA can hand him any sort of football related punishment (and I've no doubt it'll be an 8 game ban, if not more).

Towards the subject of diving, I can only say how much it irritates me to see any player go looking for the foul and especially when it's a player from my own team, I stood there as we were awarded the 2nd penalty against Chelsea and just shook my head... still went mental when the 3rd goal went in though - i'm only human!.

Eduardos ban was taken back before they gave it, but it was astonishing that it got that far in the first place, it was like everybody was smoking some drugs and just lost their minds.

IS the Terry case really only happening after the euros?! that is bad.

Good article and somewhat true, but it seems to take responsibility away from the players.

If they want to represent their country then they need to accept all that goes with it and be a decent human being. Not sleep with their best friends girlfriend and not say racist things.

If you are an accountant you have to sign by a certain code that you have to act by, if you don't then you risk not being a credited accountant. If accountants should do it, then Footballers should do it to.

They should have a contract of what it is to be a member of the English football team and highlight how influential they are to the British public and children. If they feel they can't obide by the moral code, then they don't play for the English team and that applies 10 fold to the captain.

It isn't as if they are being asked to do anything major.....just don't be a dick.
 
WTF? Over the Terry thing? Mental. Surely it's not that big a deal as to cause him to quit?! Maybe he's just done with England, tbh.

I'm with Capello on this tbh. You hire a hardman manager to get the player's asses in gear, yet the FA tries to make decisions for him. The least they could do was discuss it with him.
 
We need a manager who is prepared to clear out the crap (Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, etc...) who've never achieved anything for England, and start afresh with a young team. Someone who will give the players freedom to express themselves and not be scared of making mistakes. Follow the German model and by WC 2014 we might have a young but experienced and hungry team that can compete on the world stage.

The trouble with Redknapp is he's a populist. He's too pally with the media and I'm not sure he's the man to make the sweeping changes needed. Plus he's not the greatest tactician either, more a man manager.
 
Capello is a coward.
He did not quit because of the Terry thing. he did quit because he knows that he can't have success with this team and with the unreasonable expectations. This England team is a very mediocre team. Capello should have chosen another captain, he played it very good, by doing nothing he forced the FA to do something and thus giving him a reason to quit. I've lost all respect i had for him. What a coward.

The next manager should rebuild from scratch now...let the Euro's go...consider a second round as a very big success and certainly don't read the tabloids.

Hiddink is an overrated coach.
 
If they hire Redknapp then they aren't thinking about the long term.

I know Redknapp had the problem with his heart recently, might not be the best idea to start the most stressful football job in the world (arguably).

Although a caretaker position for the Euros wouldn't be the worst idea, there's no doubting his ability to motivate players.

For all the talk of this nations heightened expectations, I'm not sure it's entirely true, I don't think everyone expects us to win every competition, but rather just give a good account of ourselves.
 
Being England manager is not really a managerial role, it's a coaching job. That's why I'm not sure Redknapp is suitable. He's the stereotypical old-fashioned English club manager, but I don't think he's cut out for international football where he has to work with what he's got. Redknapp's modus operandi is to throw money at problems and move one when he doesn't get it/the money runs out.

As a short term role just for Euro 2012, maybe, yes. He can bring a bunch of lads together and get them playing for him, but as Tobi said, he's not the right man going forward.
