• Hotmail/Outlook (any Microsoft email services) folks. Microsoft is currently blocking our emails. We have raised a support ticket with them and will update when we can.

    In the meantime it's possible that adding robot@evoweb.uk to your address book/contacts will help and if you're able to switch to a different email provider, that would work fine.

    We have also increased the number of bounce emails we can handle before accounts are marked as requiring verification again to hopefully mitigate the issue a bit as well.

Fifa 11 Xbox 360/PS3

That must have been me. I played my first online game late last night, I was Spurs and it was against Man City, and it was a drab 0-0 AET. I couldn't read your name as it was on an old 14" portable tv :CONFUSE:.

I did wonder if the game was on manual (don't remember selecting that as an option) as my guys couldn't even pass 5 yards without under-hitting or misdirecting it. I was thinking that pro-passing was far more noticeable than I'd realised :P.

I also found it hard to believe that I could possibly be playing someone not on full assists, especially my first ever online game on XBOX360. Played plenty of FIFA09 and 10 on PS3 online and can barely remember finding a single game on manual.

The thing that made most impression on me was that it was slow and a completey different game compared with playing against the cpu. Glad I bought it now as, human v human, it could be a good game. Also 10v10 is as good as it's always been.

If they'd just sort out the awful cpu, it could be a decent 1-player game.
 
I've let myself down...

Said I wouldn't buy the game new, but when I saw it in a store I couldn't help myself.

edit: As a United fan I'm annoyed Valencia and Evans have generic faces, they look awful!

Got Fifa yesterday and must say im very underwhelmed by it. Its not that much different to FIFA10 and that was only alright.
 
When this game is bad, it really is fucking atrocious. Pro Club ranked matches are so hit & miss.
 
Stupid fucker ticker! It's already spoiled the score of Wigan v Wolves for me and I hadn't even had chance to download it yet, guess I have to play all my Fifa disconnected from EA's servers, what a complete fucking joke :(

You didn't hear about the new "EA Servers Complimentary Disconnection Feature?"

Just try and play an online game and 9 times out of 10 EA will go ahead and drop you from the servers automatically, saving you the trouble.

I don't play online, I just want to play my nice little offline career mode not disturbing anyone without a cunting score ticker disturbing my enjoyment of real football :(
 
Anyone with problems with live Season on PS3 it made all squads go weird Kaboul up front for Spurs and no Van Der Vaart and keepers with no names only numbers for example 45. -19880. ?

Man, the bug list at the moment must be making you green with envy - a full on military sim made by a small dev studio in the Czech Republic (isn't it?) can't rack up as many as a yearly update by a gaming superpower using much of the same tech as for the previous few years.

You can still use other people's VPs by downloading their save apparently. Somebody has uploaded a 95% completed outfield VP already.
 
Yes of course I can keep my console offline, but what's the point of that? I pay for live, I pay for a legal copy of the game, if I didn't care about being connected online I could just keep a banned console...

Once signed into the EA Servers is there any way to sign out so that I can be online with Xbox live but offline with the EA servers?
 
I was playing around the the custom tactics earlier today and was dismayed. They seem to have virtually no effect - I'm sure they had more effect last year.

I was playing against Accrington and was fed up with their generic pixel-perfect ground-passing play (ie. seemed to me they played the same as every other team in the game) and so I tried putting passing to 100 long and 100 fast to see if they'd start humping early long balls. Played against them a few times and they didn't alter their style in the slightest - not one single long ball, just the same pixel-perfect ground passing that all the teams play. I switched them to 0 for very short passing, and they still played them same.

Tried the same with a few other settings and just cannot see any difference. Put crosses at 100, they hardly crossed at all. Put shooting at 100, they didn't seem more willing to shoot.

What's happened? Have these features now been toned down to the point that they exist only in name? It's a bit like how player attributes have always been there but most of them are just numbers to look at but don't actually do anything in distinguishing between players actual abilities.

The only ones that possibly had some sort of effect were defensive pressure and aggression. These had a clear effect in FIFA10, but here, the effect was small, if anything. I suspect the fact that all cpu players now have ridiculously instantaneous reactions, immaculate tackling skills and the ability to turn 180 and be at full speed in about a single frame is so overbearing that any effect of reducing defensive aggression to 0 doesn't make much difference to the overall feeling of being rushed.
 
Does anyone know if it's possible to create custom formations and tactics to use online once again? Not trying to set off any alarms but I read on the official forums (I know...) that the option to do that may have been brought back.

If so it may explain why so many other teams appear to be 10x faster than my guys and always seem to have tons of players in their penalty area when I'm trying to attack. To be fair I build up very slowly most of the time, ya know...cuz that's how football is played, but I've noticed that I'll pass and pass and pass around because I know that if I get close to their penalty box they'll just barge me off the ball and the MOMENT they get the ball of me, it's instant counter attack time. My defenders area always far more spread out and always slower.

I know even the EA forums are a small minority in the scale of fifa gamers but got to say am quite surprised that even on there the game is getting criticised quite a lot. Unforutantly u do get those moaning that its not like Fifa 10 but there are people moaning about the same things u see on here like AI, passing speed, pressure etc etc.
 
What a joke of a game. As winston says, instant reaction and "turning accelerated" of the cpu kill any resemblance with actual football.

Difficulty vs fun:
I got bored of the CPU getting harder and harder as I'm leading the league. You know, the "old feature" that if you get some points of difference in the top, the CPU team (no matter which one at all) will play harder and up the difficulty to the point that my players are now being dispossessed literally instantly and from behind once I reach the final third.

Speed catching up has reached ridiculous levels. I spent all my money signing 2 quick wingers for my Nantes. The first matches I could really break deffenses with them (by using the right stick as it seems to be the only way to really use your speed). Now I'm being regularly caught by even the slowest defenders of the league. The reaction times of my opponents is getting absurd.

It was fun at the begginging, at least, but now it's too much to endure.

Players standing, not going for the ball:
Another thing that annoys me is that when the CPU plays long balls, sometimes a player of mine is selected but he doesn't go for the ball at all, he simply is standing still even if the ball is going near him. I have to start the run to the ball manually wadting a time that the cpu uses to his favour. I have "aerial ball" help activated, so maybe it's broken somehow? It happens the same in some crosses.

Goalkeepers (more of the same):
Goalkeepers are quite good in close ranges, good in the sense of being realistic. You score some, you miss some. But they're (again) absurdly godly from mid and long range. You end up playing the through pass or cross to do the same goals as you are not rewarded for playing football at all. If you have a player just inside the are and shoot from 10-11 meters, the chances of success are pretty low so you end up getting nearer to the net.

Crappy CM mode:
Another one: I'm the team with less goals against, my goalkeeper is saving 1 or 2 1vs1s against the AI every match, but now I receive an email saying my goalkeeper has dropped in form because of his last performances.... wtf? Are they idiots?

Injuries:
Finally I had some injuries. After 20 matches of the cm, i got my striker injured. I subbed him the next match, and the sub gets injured (both 50 days injuries). I sub him again and in the third match on a row, the striker gets injured. I have my 3 forwards injured. At least I've seen some of them!
 
I'm looking long term here:

That generic feeling of every game being the same and the absence of any balance resembling football in the game. This game has it from the reviews i've seen here.

I just can't take it having to go though this again! It's nice people are enjoying the new features (honeymoon) but it will wear off quickly then you will kick yourself for giving EA your cash! EA need harsh treatment imo. that's what changed the mentality around the time of FIFA 07 and 08! If people keep giving them props for the game being 'super realsitic' they wont change and they won't progress.

I feel EA are making a fool out of many people! This seems like FIFA 09.3 (FIFA 10 was fifa 09.1 etc..) Basically if you moan about a flaw EA will totally shift the balance of the game to cater for that one issue. So instead of trying to address the whole balance of the game, they just shift it from one extreme to another!

Take the headers, hardly any headers in FIFA 10, now there's too many in FIFA 11!

Take the sprinting etc.. Too much Sprint, Cristiano abuse in FIFA 09, so in 10 they created the cartoon barge system which gave slow defenders which high strength attributes the ability to just rugby tackle players form behind, this has morphed into the pressure fest we associate with FIFA 11.

CPU tricks: again, hardly any in FIFA 09 and 10, now too much in FIFA 11! which kills the ability it seems fro teams to actually play like a team and instead they just plow forward with that Zidane turn looking to shoot from 45 degrees!

I was coming on to post about this exact same thing and saw your post, so it's it safe to say there is no way to turn it off ?(I looked in all the menus)

This is a joke ! another example of EA going BACKWARDS with stuff as you could turn it all off before on FIFA 09 & 10.

Don't they understand that not everyone wants to know scores the minute they are available, plenty of people avoid the scores on a Saturday in order to watch MOTD or the majority of the whole game of their team playing on Sky Football First.

I just can't believe EA are going backward with basic choices shit like this.

When will they realise that giving users options = less grief for them ! Argh it's basic common sense.

Make sure to complain on the forums and on their Twitter else they'll just ignore us and not disable it or put in a setting for us to disable it if we so wish (like every other fucking EA game to date).
