[FL2026] Change gampad controls

Hello,

I wonder if there is a way to change the button combination for super cancel (that is currently R1+R2). From my point of view, it is way more easier to do it if it is R1+L1 (as it is in FIFA).

In personal preset there is only commands with one button. The ones with a combination of multiple buttons are not there.

I don’t understand your answer. I already play full manual. I want to change the button combination for super cancel (that permits to cancel a pass or a shot) from R1+R2 to L1+R1. It is not possible from the game itself, so my question is if there is a way to do it from game files.

In
SP Football Life 26 (FL26)
—which is based on the PES 2021 engine—the Super Cancel command (R1+R2) is hardcoded into the core gameplay logic. Because FL26 uses a custom encrypted executable (PES2021.exe or the SmokePatch launcher), you cannot change this specific button combination by editing simple configuration files like settings.ini or sider.ini.

However, since FL26 runs on PC, you can use external tools to "trick" the game into seeing L1+R1 as R1+R2.

Recommended Workaround: Steam Input
If you added SP FL26 as a Non-Steam Game to your Steam Library, this is the most seamless method:
  1. Open Steam Controller Settings: Right-click FL26 in your Library -> Manage -> Controller Layout.
  2. Edit the L1 Button:
    • Find the L1 (Left Bumper) command.
    • Click the gear icon next to it and select Add Extra Command.
    • Bind this extra command to R2 (Right Trigger).
  3. Result: Now, when you hold R1 (your sprint) and press L1, the game receives R1 + R2 simultaneously, triggering the Super Cancel.

Advanced Option: Sider & Macros
FL26 relies heavily on Sider for its mods. While Sider itself doesn't typically remap controller inputs, you can use a background macro tool like DS4Windows (for PlayStation controllers) or AutoHotKey:

  • DS4Windows: Create a "Macro" for the L1 button that executes the keys/buttons for R1 and R2 together.
  • Caution: Since you play full manual, remapping L1 might interfere with your ability to perform manual chipped through balls or player switching. You may want to bind this macro to a button you use less frequently, like the Touchpad Click or R3.

In-Game "Special Controls" Check
Check the Settings.exe in your FL26 installation folder:
  • Under the Controller tab, you can swap R1 and R2 globally. This won't change the "combination" to L1+R1, but it can move the Super Cancel to a more comfortable physical grip (like R1+L2).

Thank you for this complete answer, it is more clear to me now.
If my understanding is good, there is no way to reassign super cancel command that will not affect the other commands (I mean the ones linked to L1 if I want to have super cancel on L1+R1).
Am I right?

You’ve hit the nail on the head. In SP FL26 (and the PES engine it’s built on), the game doesn't see "L1+R1" as a unique, programmable slot. It simply sees two buttons being pressed at once.
If you remap L1 to also trigger R2 (to create your L1+R1 Super Cancel shortcut), you will run into these two main "collisions":

1. The "Double Command" Conflict

Every time you press L1 for a normal manual play (like a chipped through ball or a manual player switch), the game will think you are also pressing R2.

  • Result: You might accidentally trigger a "Finesse Shot" or "Special Control" animation when you just wanted to switch players.

2. The Loss of Full Manual Precision

Since you play Full Manual, L1 is your lifeline for direction and player switching. If you bind a macro to L1:

  • You lose the "clean" L1 input.
  • The game might get confused between your intent to "Super Cancel" and your intent to "Switch/Lob."

Is there any way around this?

The only "clean" way to do this without affecting L1's original function would be to use a controller with back paddles (like an Xbox Elite, DualSense Edge, or a SCUF).

  • You could map a back paddle to act as "R1+R2."
  • This would give you a single-button Super Cancel that doesn't interfere with L1, R1, or R2 at all.
Otherwise, you are correct: on a standard controller, reassigning it will always "pollute" the original function of the buttons you choose.
Do you have a controller with extra back buttons, or are you using a standard DualSense/Xbox pad?

Very clear again.
I have a standard Xbox controller. as I don’t want this wish to pollute my gaming experience with random behaviors, I will stay like that.
Thank you for your help.
