Hi , so I've been here so far for 2 months or even more addressing my love for this league and it's special magical presence in every winning eleven game (or even sometimes fifa games) , I like winning eleven or pes more than real life football because guess what I don't like football and I'm not a football fan haha , but there's something special about this game and especially the japanese teams or players that make you feel as if you're having a spiritual experience I'm not kidding I myself have a "spiritual" or "destined" thing that happened with me that made me love this game , and I'll storytell you this story and I'm sure some of you have similar stories

Since I was young around 6 years old , my father was a hardcore fifa player .. he used to play everyday , so he took me to his pc and shown me the players , the game , everything , he played fifa 2005 , and he teached me how to play , he was an English league and English national team fan , and his favourite team was man united .. , he has died 2 weeks ago god bless his soul and that he rests in peace.. , so I've felt to talk about this because he was the origin reason for everything that happened with me for this game , the destined huge thing that happened that I used to have dreams that I was a japanese person and I used to speak japanese when I was young without knowing that it's japanese haha , anyways , the first time I played the game , put the headphones , I was absolutely hooked with the soundtrack , opened edit squads or something , the first player to appear in front of me was daisuke matsui for lemans , and he was a japanese player , something from my heart was screaming because I knew something that I can't explain with words , then I went randomly to Italian league and found Nakamura! , after that I found inamoto , and this in itself is a huge experience for me because in fifa 2005 you can't search based on nationality and me myself couldn't understand most of the language or anything (I was 7)in 2006 , the next chapter of this story is my father buying me the first PS2 in 2010 and my first pes game (PES 2010) and let me tell you , when we were in the store trying the console I immediately went to Japan team even though I'm not japanese but I look kinda japanese haha , I was so happy to experience this like finally playing as the japanese national team with the players fully real, the soundtrack , the editing everything felt completely different than fifa..more magical and happiness experience , after some months I bought winning eleven 2009 ( the japanese version) and I was having the same magical feeling seen every japanese player and I only played with Japan or japanese clubs , and I didn't know that there's something called japanese clubs back then haha , when I heard the Japan national anthem for the first time I was with my grandfather in 2007 I felt shocked and I said I want to go back to my home but I couldn't understand that this is Japan or anything , anyways , every we or pes game I have a weird or destined story with it .. and I'm sure you also do

THE NEXT IMPORTANT PART

THE J-LEAGUE PART

when I found out later that there's something called j league games , with players all having full real accurate player faces, I couldn't sleep for nights, I've managed to get j league winning eleven 2009 for ps2 and this was a huge turning point for me back when I was 12 .. couldn't leave my PS2 haha , and it was a completely different experience than pes , so later in 2013 my father got me ps3 and I tried my first pes game which was 2014 and I was disappointed.. Japan wasn't lisenced and japanese players were limited .. I used to play we 2012 and 2013 on ps2 and pc but when I found out that they had j league dlcs and that I couldn't get them back then was a huge depression for me when I was a child , years have passed and I've managed to play j league for we2014 and now because of you guys on this beautiful site I was able to play 2013 dlc and the only j league experience that is left for me to try is the 2012 one and I've made alot of posts trying to activate it but anyways ..

That wasnt my full story with this game it was just a small detailed one about the magical feeling this game had put upon me

This thread I think it'll be for j league fans for winning eleven games like me , I want to know your favourite game , team , or if you had same "destined" or experience you can surely tell us here I'd love to read it , and I didn't find any j league thread and this is a huge part of this game and I'm sure there's people out there who play we or pes mainly for j league , I hope this thread grows like the retro pes corner haha

wish you the best

@Yosefus99

I am sorry to hear about your loss. My sincere condolences. The football game experiences can never be taken away from you.

Cool post. I also loved the Japanese Winning Eleven versions (including the J.League, which I thought was even better). When I was younger, it was also my introduction to learning Japanese and my interest in Japanese culture.

Daisuke Matsui was my favourite player because he also played for Kyoto Sanga FC. If I remember correctly, I saw Kyoto Sanga FC play against Yokohama FC in Yokohama, so I think Nakamura also played. I'm especially glad you mentioned Matsui :D
During the 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 seasons, I watched approximately 6-8 J.League matches.

The old Winning Eleven games on the PS2 were something special and will always remain in our hearts.

Thank you for sharing your passion with us.

Sorry for your loss, buddy. Sending strength to you and your family 💙
Thanks❤️ , It's ok .. , I remember we used to spend a lot of hours me and my father each night in my school holidays just playing pes whole night until sunrise haha .. beautiful days.. but everything and everybody must come to an end , and I think we just need to enjoy our everyday life and appreciate more our people around us.. they might go someday.

You're welcome , yes after I've grown up I knew that daisuke matsui was actually one of the most talented wingers in Japan and he has was the first one to inspire me to play this series as he was the first player I saw in video games in general , I remember he had a story in 2006 world cup that he was on the list and got removed for another player if I'm not mistaken

As I've said in my previous comment yes death is a part of life we all are going to go one day , we should appreciate life experiences and our families , friends more because life is hard and at the end of the day you have memories , emotions , soul , and mind , his death transformed me to actually become more better and appreciate life more as a person because you don't know how you're impacting other people and how much they love you , and how this magical experience called "life" is actually about that memories and emotions at the end of the day , despite of sometimes not understanding what life means , money work or bills , you know those heavy serious topics .

And you're welcome I shared my
experiences because I'm sure a lot of people do too !

Ok I'll start first with my own analysis
And I'll list them from most played to less played and I'll analyze them based on fun gameplay, graphics and player models and accuracy of player individuality (something Konami does perfect with japanese players) , and the "Longevity" of it , meaning that yes the game can be enjoyable and good but for how long ? Which game after you forget winning eleven and go about your life , and then return to ?
also my opinions are based on ps2 and ps3 winning eleven games because I played them mainly there didn't focus on ps1 or ps4, if you have played PS1 or other versions of games I'd like to hear about it also !

The list is from less to most

1- WE2014 Aoki samurai no chousen :
This game offered a lot , you had j1 and j2 , Nippon challenge , and it's gameplay was improved a lot from pes 2014 , I overall played like 6000 matches since I started playing it and honestly I won't lie I was just playing it for the sake of j league at the time , the game is dull and repetitive, almost no individuality except for like 50 players in j league or something and no fun factor, but sometimes I come to play it just for the sake of forgetting some existential crisis I have .. and the player faces and models gave me a feeling that konami wanted to end it so fast.. which is so opposite to the other versions of j league like dlc2012 where they made it with time and patience and it was perfect.. one of the good things about this game is the graphics and visually looks great.

My Rating (6/10)

Next game(s) comes next comment

Next game(s) in terms of longevity:

Second place comes : J League winning eleven 10 , it was a good game , had 2006 gameplay , but it was poorly made faces and graphics in general when the company had more time than ever with the success of pes 6 and that there wasn't a known (pes7) you had time to create more realistic faces and graphics in general , the same goes for me with j league 2007 club championship, it's like a refined version of the previous one with more updated player graphics but both of them are in the same position for me , but if you asked me will you play it .. I'll say probably no .. the rating 5/10

Third place : j league winning eleven 8 asia championship , the gameplay was fun , entertaining, the player faces were more better being generic than those Photoshops that were done with we9 and we10 haha , I really liked this game and from time to time I'd like to play a couple of matches with it , but will I love it .. I don't know .. Rating (7/10)

Next comment comes my best games that I love actually playing and enjoy them and I can come back to from time to time

Hi,

First of all, my sincere condolences, I'm sorry for your loss. And thanks for sharing your story, it has been a nice read.

I've myself grew with 90's Serie A but always had a soft spots with some "exotic" (from an European point of view) national teams, clubs or leagues.

For instance, I surprised myself to scream like if it'd be Italy who would have scored when Luis Hernandez from Mexico (my favourite team after Italy for no reason Il can really explain) scored in this damned 8th final vs. Germany in WC 98. Or more recently with Flamengo during Club WC...

And I have also a (very soft) spot with J-League too. There, my favourite team is Yokohama FC but I'm also following Tokyo Verdy and Consadole Sapporo.

I started to follow Yokohama FC thanks to King Kazu Miura. I also have an official Shunsuke Nakamura shirt (season 2021). For Tokyo Verdy, it's mostly because of the Kappa shirt and the fact Hulk played there. And Consadole Sapporo, I don't know why, but I just used to like their Kappa kit, their emblem, their stadium, the fact they are in Northern, calmer part, ... It just started from there.

Because of my love for this league, I've added full J2 League in my PES 6 and PES 2008 OF + a couple of J1 teams too to complete the editing of "other league C". And even for my WE 2008 OF, I've added 2 Japanese teams.

Regarding the J-League games, I've :
- JLWE2007CC (PS2)
- JLWE2008CC (PS2)

And just recently ordered JLWE9AC (PS2).

I would dream about creating a "pnach" file (soft patch for PCSX2) that only translates the menu items of JLWE2008CC game but still using the original ISO. Maybe with the help of AI it'll be possible. Who knows...

JLWE2008CC is for me the best football game on PS2. The atmosphere, the stadium, the immersion, the gameplay, the rythme, the details, ... But myself, the lack of NT makes me prefer WE 2008.

JLWE2007CC is for me the "ultimate official PES 6" game and I feel strange it's not mentioned often by the WE10 or PES 6 lovers (I've not played JLWE10 + European Leagues 06/07 though...).

I'll soon received JLWE9AC that I recently ordered.

I'm sure @NeoRetro would also have some good input on JL games !

Thanks for your kind words and support ..
I loved your content and your devotion thanks for everything man
And yes I'm with you totally jlwe2008 is the ultimate game , I'm dreaming of actually having the original cd and a ps2 .. I don't know maybe I'm stupid but the experience on ps3hen as I'm playing is not original enough if you know what I mean , I'll order it one day maybe I'm busy or lazy haha

You can easily find these games on eBay.
And even from a European PS2 you can easily load them (FreeMCBoot, ...) if you even want to play from an original disc.

I'm surprised you're not emulating these games or just flat out prefer the real hardware.

I do emulate. And prefer this over playing on original hardware for convenience purpose (playing original hardware on a modern TV is not a good experience).

But I still want to own a physical copy of the game. I dumped all my games (incl. cartridge games myself).

I even dumped the required bios from my consoles myself.

Yeah owning real hardware and real hard copy games is great. I had a modded PS2 back in the day. Ordered all Winning Eleven titles from Play-Asia. Probably the best years of my teenage life.

Fourth Place : J-League winning eleven 9 club championship
This game was overall great and had the most content , you had lisenced k league and a lot of asian clubs , j1 and j2 and full Nippon challenge and also you had national teams which is very important , the gameplay was so entertaining in this game , it featured the most content it felt that the company was at its peak , you could see the crowd in the opening of any game , you could change t shirts and shorts and socks to your liking , it had better gameplay than pes 5 , everything was perfect for this game , and I actually enjoy it till this day , but do I play it all the time .. ?
No , because sometimes I felt the players graphics (faces and hairs) made too fast and not realistic enough also because I feel that this game is like a rabbit hole it never ends in terms of it's content ( which also a good thing but not for me )

Third Place : J league winning eleven 2010 , oh boy this game is fantastic , you'd had 2010 ps2 gameplay (balanced in my opinion) , the faces and hairs of the players are the most imaginary and realistic in the same time , it featured a lot of japanese youngsters who became a talented players after some couple of years , the menus of the teams were better than all of the j league games , overall this game is absolutely beautiful to play and I come to it from time to time

Second Place : J league winning eleven 2009 AND 2008
the most advanced computer (ai) I've ever play against in the PS2 , the games are perfect , each game feel different, the graphics are absolutely beautiful especially in jlwe2008 , you even had 60 STADIUMS! , the gameplay is the most fun in ps2 and it had soul in it especially 2008 , jlwe2009 is emotional to me because it was the first j league game to play back when I was 12 I think!

I'll make the special post after this for the first place

I've been playing it quite regularly in the last few days, and I believe that (for us Europeans at least) it's a hidden gem.
Not only it features the K-League (I think it's been the only one to ever do so, am I right?) but it also resembles PES 5 in terms of gameplay, which is a plus. It also has some subtle tweaks here and there, and at times I also found myself thinking to myself "wow, I wish this happened also in PES 5".
So yes, even if they've been released like one or two months apart, gameplay is similar but not completely the same.

Curious to see which is your favourite one!

Well .. maybe this will be a long post

It's the first position for me and it wins the golden prize ultimately and eternally , it's obvious guys I've been speaking about those two games since I joined this site but man .. they're the perfect pes/we experience in my own opinion and I'm going to be so specific with this ..

1- WE2013 AND WE2012 on ps3 with J LEAGUE DLC INSTALLED AND ACTIVATED , first of all thanks to some great wonderful people here I was not only activated the dlc on ps3 .. but the original Kyra and albiore patch of conversion of we2013 dlc into pes 2013 pc was a huge part of my LIFETIME , and it has its story for why I'm after still activating the 2012 dlc (which is better than 2013 but anyways) , back then I was 15 or 16 I guess ?? , and I kept having a lot of emotional shit because I couldn't get we2013 or 2012 back in the day because first of all they were region specifically in Japan and second I couldn't know how I get it , but when I finally downloaded this patch which was converted to a dlc .. man .. I was absolutely amazed with how Konami made every player .. LITERALLY EVERY PLAYER , have his own player id , original face and hair , everything is extremely realistic and also the huge fun and tactical fun you have with the original game was an absolutely fantastic experience to have, whenever I tried a new "pes" or "fifa" it just couldn't stand with both of these games .. I played this patch for over 10 years ! Until recently when I've managed to get both of the japanese versions on ps3 and found the j league dlcs because of 8ak6 and miaoxiafei helped me with the activation file for we2013 and I was absolutely amazed again .. because now not only it's a patch , but it's the original game with the original team IDs and player IDs, the gameplay is absolutely fantastic in every side of it , each player feel DIFFERENT in everything, and my mind works in a way of analyzing and paying attention to details , I still play it to this day since last October back when I activated it , and man I still enjoy it daily , even my brother plays with me a master leagues with different j2 division teams and he tells me this is fantastic and everything feels different not only every match but every player , it's 10/10 without any discussion.. for me I could play both of these games (we2013 and we2012 japanese versions with j league dlcs) for eternity, nothing amazed me after those games , even nowadays I was never convinced with any football game that came after those games , even though as you may know I'm not a football fan and I don't like sports ever , but these games offer a total fully spiritual experience and a high imagination with so much practical and tactical details you could never imagine , if you never had those games and I'm speaking about the japanese versions the pes versions are normal versions , I'm recommending it to you today in your free time try one of these , I have a hope to activate the j league 2012 dlc which after activating it will be another story written in my life for another 20 years 😅, can you even imagine that sometimes the crowd will chant a specific player?? For example vegalta sendai crowd will chant AKAMINE which is an important player in this team , the j league teams themselves have a original and imaginary aura about them , something that makes you wonder and want to play with them .

I'm glad to read how much fun you're having with these DLCs. The J.League games have their own special appeal. I also had a Japanese account back in the PS3 days and bought the J.League DLCs. I'd have to check whether they still work, see if I can log into the account and whether they're still available for download.

However, I think I played the PS2 versions much more, especially the old ones like WE J.League 6, which I won the championship with a few days ago with Kyoto Purple Sanga, whom I also saw live in real life

Thank you again for your passion in writing about the J.League games. When I read your posts, I always felt like playing the J.League games too.

@Yosefus99
If you are interested in old photos from the J.League from 2003-2004, I can share some with you here. However, I don't want to impose.

You're welcome , well that's nice that you had the j league dlcs one day they're a hidden gem , as for you asked me what's your top spot it'll be surely we2012 with the j league dlc activated it's better than we2013 in my opinion , yeah the first j league games had their special aura but I didn't like it that much because it felt a little bit more arcadey even though fifa was the arcade football game back in the days , if you're going to check those dlcs again that's awesome to play a couple of match and re-evaluate those masterpieces , if you found j league dlc for winning eleven 2012 still working or 2013 you can dm me because I need some activation files to make the we2012 j league dlc to work in my system , also I have the last 2013 dlc (each game had two updates I have the last one which works with 2013 season) , if you have the 2012 season for we2013 that will be an interesting thing because it's better than the later update , and also for the photos.. are those photos from real life?!! .. 2004?? I think I was 5 or 6 years old back then 😅

I have to say, my favorite Winning Eleven games were really the really old ones for the PS2.

My favorite game is Winning Eleven 5 J.League. After that, definitely Winning Eleven 6 J.League and Winning Eleven 8 J.League Asia Championship. The old league format, which was abolished in the 2005 season, was so cool.

The photos are from 2003-2004 when I was in Japan. I deliberately went in the summer because Kyoto had 4-6 matches in a month. So league games and at least one cup match, if I remember correctly. I traveled 17 hours to see one match for 2 hours of soccer. That was FC Tokyo against Kyoto Purple Sanga.

I'll keep that in mind with the photos and pick something out for you when I get the chance.

I am sending you a personal photo of myself when I was about 20 years old.

Loved it man you were truly a fan , appreciate all your memories and efforts.. travelling 17 hours just to watch a soccer match reveals how devoted you were, thanks for sharing this with me I'll have this beautiful memory in my mind forever I guess !

All because of Winning Eleven 5. J.League: @Yosefus99

I really wanted to become a member of Kyoto Purple Sanga when i was about 20 years old, so I ordered a membership card on their website. Funnily enough, this membership wasn't intended for foreigners, and I had to provide a Japanese address. I'm not entirely sure, but I think someone had to send the card to my home from Japan. Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly.

Sure , just download or buy winning eleven 2013 japanese version on ps3, then download the dlc located in @8ak6 post , if you can't find it I'll link it to you , then I'll send you the link of the activation PKG for it , unfortunately winning eleven 2012 activation files for j league dlc still can't be found till today

I'm glad to read how much fun you're having with these DLCs. The J.League games have their own special appeal. I also had a Japanese account back in the PS3 days and bought the J.League DLCs. I'd have to check whether they still work, see if I can log into the account and whether they're still available for download.
You wouldn’t be able to check if you still have the DLCs and/or login to your Japanese account at all?

@8ak6
I am unable to recover the password for my Japanese Yahoo email address, which I need to log in to the Japanese PlayStation Network. It is possible that the email address was deleted by Yahoo Japan due to inactivity.

You don't need the access for psn to locate the j league dlc files , plus if you already owned them you can locate inside the games ! , If you want to locate them maybe I can guide !
