• Hotmail/Outlook (any Microsoft email services) folks. Microsoft is currently blocking our emails. We have raised a support ticket with them and will update when we can.

    In the meantime it's possible that adding robot@evoweb.uk to your address book/contacts will help and if you're able to switch to a different email provider, that would work fine.

    We have also increased the number of bounce emails we can handle before accounts are marked as requiring verification again to hopefully mitigate the issue a bit as well.

Xbox One captures footage at 720p 30fps, Microsoft confirms
Xbox One’s DVR game capture will record footage at 720p and 30fps, Microsoft’s system architect Marc Whitten has confirmed. He has also revealed 1080p gamerpics.

Responding to a fan as part of an ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’s session on IGN, Whitten said of Xbox One’s recording prowess, “Game DVR captures beautiful clips at 720p 30fps. The first thing you’ll see with our game DVR is the integration of our Upload service on the console. This service allows you to manage, edit, and share your content.

“Your clips are stored in the cloud. Also, you’ll see games making “magic moment” videos of your gameplay based on the game DVR functionality – all seamlessly integrated. You’ll be able to see these clips in the Xbox One Guide, in your own game DVR collection, and when you are looking at gamercards on the system.

“You’ll also see games take advantage of this platform capability and do interesting things to integrate captured game footage into the game experience itself.”

On the new Xbox One gamerpics, Whitten added, “Your avatar will be on the system at launch and in fact, you’ll have some new options, including the ability to do full-body HD gamerpics. By the way, we should actually talk more about gamerpics too.

“We’ve moved from the 64×64 gamerpics on Xbox 360 to a full 1080p. They are beautiful, and you are going to see some really cool hero moments, like when you login to see personalized views of your games and other content.”

Last month we reported that Xbox One’s DVR function captures the last five minutes of your play, as opposed to PS4′s 15 minutes.

At the weekend, Microsoft also confirmed that the Xbox One’s GPU speed and drivers had been upgraded. Get the details here.
 
How does that compare to the ps4 other than the length which we know. ?

I'm really looking forward to these video/screenshot capture things. I know a lot of gamers are writing them off as pointless shite they'll never use. But I think it will be cool to save a cool or funny or impressive moment and share it. Or have a game automatically save something on a difficult trophy/achievement... Like some kind of big combo in god of war or maybe a game like ssx could auto save your best tricks. Battlefield always produces some "wow I can't believe that happened" moments too... This will be awesome with that game.
 
Anybody know if I can setup a PSN ID for my sons now (online) and then add them as sub accounts when I get our PS4?

I presume they will have to be sub accounts as if I go digital and get a 2nd PS4 at some point in the future, we'll all be able to access the games on both consoles??

I don't know for sure, but I don't see why not. I imagine Sony will keep all that account and sub account data and setup pretty seamless across both consoles--PS3 to PS4.
 
I went into Smyths toy shop the other day for some dolls for my daughter (honest...) and wandered over to the console dept. I glanced over at the game racks for both the PS4 and the XBO and just though, "Woah. This is going to get expensive." Almost every box I looked at I thought would interest me; Fifa 14, Battlefield 4, The Crew, Watch Dogs, Titanfall, Forza 5, AC:4... it just went on and on. Crazy.

I keep seeing comments about how the launch lineups are really poor and there's nothing worth rushing out to buy. My 'most wanted' list is practically identical but with some ps4 games there instead... I'm going to have to limit myself and get something that will last ages.

Battlefield and FIFA should do me for a shooter and a footie game... I did think watchdogs would be my most wanted but I'm not sure anymore. It kinda feels like a one trick pony.
Assassins creed is looking like it could scratch an itch farcry 3 started. It looks like a huge world with loads to do. I'm trying to get through the ones I missed to catch up on the story now

It's good but also kinda depressing. Just four of those games will set the average punter back by £200. That's crazy.

Is the size of it and the power brick really an issue? It isn't to me at all.

Anyway, I'm going PS4 as most of my kids mates are getting one so they can game with their mates. The price is a bonus but there's nothing else that sways me either way. If it was just up to me to get what I'd want then I'd go with what some of my mates get as they both do the same thing to me. Just as current gen does.

All this fanboy bollocks you read everywhere does my head in.
 
Meh. I want my consoles to look gamerish tbh. I'm not into this "fit in your living room" types. I miss the older consoles.
