Well it's certainly better than I remember. It's got some things done right and better than what we have now. Already mentioned a few like ball weight, shooting, and pitches. It's pretty fun for what it is too. We got to give it credit for what it does right. Out of all the PESs though, my worst must be 2009.

Reading of PES 2008, I will do a little of history and expose maybe the reason why the game was doomed.
And this was the moment when Pro Evolution was more important than Winning Eleven.
I'll explain my point of view:
Before, Konami released the game first on Japan and then after somes months they done an occidental "copy" called PES.
The last time that this happened was on 2006, when like all others previous years, first they released Winning Eleven 10 (AKA Pro Evolution Soccer 6), i still remember when i was looking for translation patches for WE10 waiting for PES6, and it was amazing, and after PES they released a even better version only in Japan called WE J-League (stunning)
After that on 2007, came the beginning of the end with PES 2008, i don't know why, but if you try to remember that was the year that PES became first than WE, and maybe was the year that John Murphy took the command with this "westernization" of our beloved WE to be more PES. And that maybe, was the main reason why today we are suffering.
The solution? The game must be 100% japanese again. And this England Konami headquarters will make the suffering even worst.

The worst thing to happen to PES2008 was FIFA08, which completely changed most of our expectations of a football game. It made PES2008 look and feel so dated and archaic.
I spent most of the year with FIFA08 and really enjoyed it.

PES 2008 was nothing more than just an Arcade fest that I remember WENB Tested the hell out of the game at Leipzig and said they were "Happy" with it! The game is frigging awful! The animations are laughable, The ball physics are shocking, the graphics even are pretty terrible (just look at the pitch texture)....

C'mon guys. Why exaggerate? It's not THAT bad. I couldn't care less about animations because they're still not the best to this day. Couldn't care less about the shorts. It's an arcade fest if you spam the sprint button. Ball physics are not different from now btw and it even has better weight. Pitches? Better than what we have now.

Pes 2008 just felt lifeless for me and just didn't feel like pes, luckily that returned with pes 11,12, and pes 2013. Any great pes game should get better for me with time, this was not the case with 08. Sure it was playable but everything felt over simplified, also players had no weight to them and it was far to easy, Ai showed no aggression or fight whereas in pes 2012 you have to fight for every ball and point.

If you would take the time to actually consider what I am saying you would realise that Konami have some of these instructions hard coded into the individual players, its what determines their behavior, its called Player ID. I am saying that I like this system because the players become caricatures of their real life counter parts.
Have you ever played PES ML? Have you seen some of the ridiculous stuff the CPU does with its team? That is why Fulham would do that! Having the players attributes locked is fine for me because When I am playing against Berbatov I want him to behave like Berbatov, I do not want the game to decide for whatever reason that he is going to behave like Messi and start trying to run with the ball.
This again is exactly my point, these instructions are locked in the players ID so they behave like they do in real life. I do not want the CPU manager seeing that Berbatov has great dribble accuracy and then deciding that for this game he will be running at people as if he were Messi.
I never asked what stats determine if he is any good at holding up play. I said is there a stat that says that this player will hold up play, the answer is no it is an instruction. Changing this instruction will change the players personality. To me Berbatov holds up play, it is in his playing DNA, I do not want this turnt off.

Berbatov does not run at 3 or 4 players with the ball, he prefers to hold it up and bring others into play. If he is given instructions to not hold up play and often run with the ball then to me that is not recreating Berbatov. From the beginning I have said that I can appreciate that Konami have removed individual instructions because they are trying to give the players an identity.
I know that the players personalities are created by the stats, what you dont seem to get is that in my view some of those instructions will stop the players doing things that define them as players. I like playing against Man U and seeing Rooney charge round the pitch after my players, dropping into his half to get the ball back. I dont want the game to decide that in this match he is going to play on the shoulder of the CB, not drop deep, and not press. Even if his stats dictate that he will still do these things but to a lesser extent. I dont want a diluted Rooney, I like the digital Wayne to play as a caricature of his real self. This may not be the ultra realistic management that you are after but for me its fine.
Why start talking about real life? We are talking about a computer game and in PES Berbatov is a caricature and he behaves as such. If the CPU were to move a slider or two it would go some way to ruin this which I would not want. If I require the player to perform duties that Berbatov is unlikely to I will not play him and opt for a player that will, thats why I appreciate what Konami have done with their system and why I am not devastated that there are no individual instructions. I will find the square peg for the square hole and if there is no square peg the disadvantage of having a round one will be a challenge to work around. Sure it would be great to give some individual instructions but not ones that take away from the players ID.

why would fulham do that? thats like saying you dont want a tactics board at all because you dont want to see barcelona playing 5-4-1. fulhams tactics would match their tactics of realife, as the games tries to do now with every team.

PES 2011 is the only current gen game i liked and played 12 months...PES2012 is a huge step back.

Hm, guys, what PES game was it that had Liverpool & Barcelona in the demo, Torres was still at Liverpool at the time, in my opinion the graphics of that game were so good at the time, particularly the turf and lighting and weather effects...

is there any chance that Konami is about to redo the master league and pushes the game back to late october and thats why there is no official announcment about the release date?
wich would be intresting because i guess the late september was the target and they already produced a thousends copy of the game in their factory

I think you're definitely on about the wrong game now. 2008 and balloon shots don't mix. They're quite powerful.
I'm starting to doubt some of you even touched that game now and only go off what other users post.
