PES 6/PES 5/WE9 LE All Stuttering

There is not a single solution that works for everyone unfortunately. dxwrapper is what I have described here in this thread and is what has worked consistently for me. For others it seems dgvoodoo works better. For me that drops to 59 fps quite a lot.

But to your question you need to download the dx8.games.zip from this link:

dxwrapper 1.2.7

Unzip the archive and place the 3 files in game directory where the exe is located. dxwrapper will make a log file in the same directory upon launch of the game called dxwrapper - pes5 for example, so you know it’s running correctly.

You likely need to install the directx legacy libraries from Microsoft.
Can you show me a screenshot of your files that you use to improve the game in the pes folder?

I still haven't managed to solve this. Whenever I change anything in the notepad and save nothing happens. I then installed a separate camerazoom tool change it, save it, nothing changes. It then comes up an error that I don't have permission... I have deleted and reinstalled the game into a different directory. I'm losing my mind at this stage

Hello everyone. First of all, I want to thank all of you for your amazing and passionate work. Truly fantastic. I've been trying for some time now to get PES06, PES05, and PES4 running on my jailbroken PlayStation 4. I would absolutely love to play the original season patches by Fabri. Of course, I could play them on my laptop, but it would never be the same as on the PlayStation. Besides, my laptop isn't really made for gaming, and I’d prefer to keep its storage free for study-related files. Also, the feeling is just different when playing on the PlayStation.

As I mentioned, my PlayStation is jailbroken. I installed Fedora38 on it and am running the games via Wine, since there's no Windows. So Windows is being emulated through Wine. Unfortunately, the patches don’t run smoothly—unless I completely disable the LOD.dll in the kload.cfg. . Then the gameplay is fluid. With lod.dll enabled, the game technically runs, but in my opinion, it's not playable.

I've really tried a lot of things and am only now turning to the community because I’ve run out of options and need help from others. Does anyone perhaps know what the best settings would be for my setup, which programs I should download, or how I can get the game to run properly?

I sincerely thank you in advance!

I don't have PS4, but I have Linux experience.

I'm not sure if PS4 supports GPU acceleration through OpenGL or Vulkan on Linux, but you may try Proton-Sarek, which is aimed to improve performance for older configurations which don't support newer extensions of Vulkan & OpenGL APIs.

You said that you use wine, are you using it raw from the system, or you have some wine manager isolated from the system, like Lutris or Bottles?
You may try using that to ease the way of configuring this stuff.

Anyone having slight audio delay on PES6, Lutris, Steam Deck?
That's a known issue with wine's non-ideal DirectMusic translation to native Linux system calls. That's what PES/WE on Windows uses for audio.
There were some improvements recently with it's translation, but it's still not ideal with this issue still being present & some audio potentially missing.

This had to be done before to have audio at all & even with this, commentator audio would repeat itself & glitch badly. Audio glitches got fixed, but I still have to do this, to have some audio, like the sound of crossbar or ball shoot (not sure if disabling Fsync/Esync is needed now though):

This is when those noticeable DirectMusic translation improvements happened:

Due to this, I use PCSX2 to play PS2 version of PES/WE on Linux until they fix those issues + it's also smoother than Windows version for me.

Hello. I'm using the PES 6 Gladiator patch. The game freezes when recording with OBS. The recording is bad. PES 6 freezes when I'm not playing any other game. What's the definitive solution?

I tried the following and have seen a massive improvement:

Step 1:

PES 5 has timing issues when Windows moves it between cores.

Automatic method (recommended):

  1. Create a file called PES5_Affinity.bat
  2. Put this inside:

    <span>start "" /affinity 1 /high "PES5.exe"<br></span>
  1. Launch the game using this .bat file.

Manual method:

  • Open Task Manager → Details
  • Right-click PES5.exe → Set affinity
  • Select ONLY CPU 0
This alone removes a lot of micro-stutter.

Step 2:

Native PES 5 uses DirectX 8, which stutters on modern GPUs.
dgVoodoo2 converts it to DX11/12 with stable frame pacing.

Download:

(Search “dgVoodoo2” — the tool can’t be linked here.)

How to install:

  1. Extract dgVoodoo2.
  2. Copy these files into your PES 5 folder:
    • From MS/x86/:
      • D3D8.dll
      • D3D9.dll
      • DDraw.dll
  3. Also copy the dgVoodooCpl.exe into the game folder.

Configure:

Open dgVoodooCpl.exe
Go to DirectX tab:
  • ✔️ Force VSync = On
  • ✔️ Fast video memory access = On
  • Set VRAM = 1024 MB
  • Resolution = Your monitor’s resolution
  • Antialiasing = 2× or 4× (optional)
This drastically improves smoothness.

Step 3:

  1. Right-click PES5.exe → Properties
  2. Compatibility tab
  3. Check:
    • Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (SP3)
    • Disable fullscreen optimizations
This fixes timing and unstable fullscreen issues.

Step 4:

For NVIDIA:

  • Open NVIDIA Control Panel
  • Manage 3D settings → Program Settings → Add PES5
  • Set:
    • VSync = On
    • Low Latency Mode = Off
    • Power management = Prefer maximum performance

For AMD:

  • Radeon settings → Games → PES5:
    • Wait for VSync = Always on
    • Anti-Lag = Off
    • Chill = Off
    • Sharpening = Off
This stops screen tearing and frame wobble.

Step 5:

PES 5 uses logic tied to the framerate.

Go to Settings.exe (in the PES 5 folder):
  • Set Frame Rate = 60 fps
  • Set VSync = On
  • Use Fullscreen (more stable than windowed

Step 6:

Windows Game DVR interferes with old games.
  1. Settings → Gaming → Xbox Game Bar → OFF
  2. Captures → Background Recording → OFF
  3. Game Mode → ON (helps PES 5 stay on one core)

Step 5:
PES 5 uses logic tied to the framerate.

Go to Settings.exe (in the PES 5 folder):
  • Set Frame Rate = 60 fps
  • Set VSync = On
  • Use Fullscreen (more stable than windowed

Since when does Settings.exe allow to set frame rate and vsynch? Is this ChatGPT or some other GenAI nonsense?

Hello. I'm using the PES 6 Gladiator patch. The game freezes when recording with OBS. The recording is bad. PES 6 freezes when I'm not playing any other game. What's the definitive solution?
I have similar issue. OBS recording freezes once I go full screen. Without Voodoo it works, but the game is lagging..

no it isn't, u just need to play it the best way that suites you, because i don't think the game is playable full manual on superstar, it is very hard, best balance should be 1 bar passing, and basic shooting, and superstar.
I never play newer games since Puyol scored a scissors kick goal against me in less 2011. It was the only way he could score, and he did it in difficult level. I thought it was the difficulty level did not depend on the players ability, so no matter playing against Barcelona or a Thai team, difficult will be always difficult

Hi all in case you still wondering I did a research in the new spanish pes6 community ( www.pes6.es ) and the current problem, AFIK is held by 2 things:

1. using internal GPU in laptops and motherboards with GPU of some kind.

2. Dx8 mal-use in W7/W8/W10 ( Think internally is due to some kind of emulation I remember I have read this in Dx forums) Sometimes installing old Dx helps to have it explicitly avialable not emulated in the system,

The important part is that we have the files in pes6.es its indeed related to this (See attachment)
http://enbdev.com/download_convertor_dx8todx9.htm

And also you have now 2 methods of knowing and using the propper GPU, one is checking it in the task manager (W10, see if GPU is 1 instead of 0 ) when pes6 is running you can see the details in the taskmanager/processes.

and then nVidia control panel for explicitly search the exe file, add and apply high performance GPU.

Also in display settings Windows control panel / display / performance has now an option similar to the one for nVidia to do this but for me was not working.

Like I always said, trust me there is a solution for this game and its stuttering.

Also play with Kload to set the

dx.force-SW-TnL
dx.emulate-HW-TnL

to 1, sometimes help with low graphic cards. Play with these options of your PC is low and OFC lower your graph settings in the pes6 settings exe.

using Steam Deck in 2025Dec... such stuttering Overrider even help me solved the freezing in ML (formation menu hang) ..amazing small tools..!!! thanks! could be old Dx8 stuff related.. set kitserver , PES5.exe run as admin, i also compatible as win 8, but freeze..and applied dx8dx9 converter not helping, finaly such Stuttering Overriders seems helped, hope it's stable btw I set all windows high performance pes5.exe and using Processor Lasso. all keep high priority..... !! amazing Evo web forum .. for my pes 5 and 6 mainly..
