PES21 - Master League Season 1 - Colo Colo

What an end to the season this is shaping up to be. Universidad de Chile have been runaway leaders for most of the season, but their form has dipped at just the wrong time and we find ourselves in a title race with just 4 games to go:

IMG_6001.jpeg

We have quite a favourable run in but our squad depth is really catching up with us after going quite deep into the Copa Libertadores. Can we keep grinding out results and be ready to pounce if UdC continue to stutter?

Elsewhere, we navigated a really tricky semi-final tie against Racing. After a really cagey 0-0 result in the first leg, we produced a masterclass away performance to beat the Argentine side on their home patch.

As a result, we have a final against São Paulo to look forward to. What an achievement it would be to win the Copa Libertadores at the first time of asking.

I clipped this lovely goal from my last game against Palestino, a brilliant 1-2 on the edge of the box before a lovely chipped finish into the bottom left corner.

Can we hold our nerve and pick up a famous double?

PES21 - Master League Season 1 - Colo Colo

It was always going to be a dramatic conclusion to season 1 as we had a potential league and Libertadores double to compete for.

We have performed above my expectations during our first season, with a weakened and very thin squad we have managed to battle competitively on all fronts throughout the season.

We managed to pick up 7 points from our final 3 league games. Not a bad return at all but fatigue definitely took its toll on a squad fresh out of two intense Copa Libertadores semi final games.

Unfortunately, the 2 points dropped proved crucial as Universidad de Chile pipped us to the title by a point. It’s a tough one to take with the margins being so fine but realistically Universidad deserved it in the end after topping the table for most of the season. Our early season inconsistency and slow start ultimately cost us but no doubt we have laid a marker to go one step further next season.

IMG_6008.jpeg

Our focus quickly turned to the Copa Libertadores final against São Paulo. We had beaten some really good teams along the way to the final but this was going to be right up there with one of our toughest tests.

It was a typical PES final - Really cagey with the AI not giving up much in terms of chances. We dominated possession though and most of the half chances created fell to us.

Then, mid way through the second half, Franco broke through from central midfield to latch on to an Ágata through ball and rifled the ball into the top right corner - 1-0 Colo Colo!

We limited them to a few half chances but ultimately we saw out the rest of the game fairly easily.

What a result in our first run at winning the Copa Libertadores and Colo Colo’s second title since first winning the competition in 1991.

On to season 2 - Hopefully we can bring in some new signings for the first time during the save and go all out for success again next season :BSCARF:

Brief History of PAOK Thessaloniki

PAOK Thessaloniki, officially known as Panthessaloníkios Athlitikós Ómilos Konstantinopolitón, was founded in 1926 by Greek refugees from Constantinople after the population exchange between Greece and Turkey. The club’s black-and-white colors symbolize mourning for the lost homeland and hope for a new beginning.

From the start, PAOK became a symbol of the refugee community in Thessaloniki, quickly growing into one of the city’s most influential sports institutions. Throughout the decades, the club developed a strong fan culture known for its passion and loyalty.

PAOK earned its first major successes in the 1970s, winning the Greek Cup in 1972 and capturing the club’s first league title in 1976. In the following years, the team regularly challenged for domestic trophies and built a fierce rivalry with Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, and local rivals Aris Thessaloniki.

A new era of stability and ambition began in the 2010s. Under solid management and strong squad building, PAOK won multiple Greek Cups and, most notably, achieved an undefeated league season in 2018–19, capturing their third Greek Championship in historic fashion.

Today, PAOK is considered one of the biggest clubs in Greece, known for its passionate supporters, competitive spirit, and constant presence in European competitions.

Epic Master League Career – PAOK Thessaloniki

The season began in the most brutal way imaginable. Under the blazing Thessaloniki sun, PAOK fell to Panathinaikos in the opening match—an unsettling reminder that glory is never given, only taken. Critics whispered that the squad lacked conviction, that the new manager’s project would crumble before it even began.

They were wrong.

Rise Through the Shadows

From that early setback, PAOK rose with relentless determination. Match after match, the team climbed the league table, carving through opponents with disciplined defense and counter-attacking fury. Toumba Stadium became a fortress of noise and intimidation.
But even heroes stumble. A string of hard-fought draws against Aris, AEK, and Volos halted the momentum. Headlines spoke of “the fatigue of giants,” yet inside the dressing room, belief never wavered. The players understood: a storm always gathers before it breaks.

SP Football Life 2026 10.11.2025 13_15_39.png

At the heart of this rise were four pillars:
  • Giannis Konstantelias — emerged as the team’s heartbeat, the young maestro orchestrating every attack. His passes cut defenses like thunderbolts, his vision twisted games to his will. By the end of the campaign, he stood as the league’s Assist Leader with 9 decisive passes and 14 goals, each one a brushstroke on PAOK’s masterpiece. Fans whispered that they were witnessing the birth of a club legend.

  • Georgios Giakoumakis was the executioner of dreams. A striker of brute force and perfect timing, he dominated every penalty box he entered. With 17 goals, he became the undisputed Top Scorer in SuperLeague and with another 14 goals Georgios conquered a Europa League. He was relentless force feared across Greece and Europe alike.

  • Mady Camara — the midfield general. Whether breaking up attacks or driving the team forward, his presence turned battles into victories.
SP Football Life 2026 10.11.2025 13_19_03.png
  • Jiri Pavlenka — the unbreachable wall. His saves, both spectacular and impossible, kept PAOK alive in moments when hope seemed lost.

Conquering Europe

In the Europa League, PAOK announced themselves to the continent. Drawn into a group with Bayer Leverkusen, Hearts of Midlothian, and Krasnodar, many expected a fierce struggle for survival. Instead, PAOK dominated. They topped the group with authority—an achievement that sent a message far beyond Greece.

SP Football Life 2026 16.11.2025 22_07_55.png

The knockout rounds became a saga of defiance:

  • Aris fell first, undone by PAOK’s tactical ruthlessness (A 0-0 / H 2-0)
  • Anderlecht were struck down by Giakoumakis’ finishing and Pavlenka’s brilliance (A 1-2 / H 2-0)
  • Atalanta followed, swept aside by a heroic defensive performance and a Giakoumakis hattrick winner that shook Bergamo (A 2-3 / H 4-1)

  • Then came Olympiacos Pireus, the eternal rival. In a two-leg battle dripping with tension, PAOK rose above emotion and sent their enemy home in disbelief (A 1-3 / H 3-3)
  • And finally: FC Barcelona.
Under the lights of the Stade de France, PAOK Thessaloniki—born from exile, carried by passion—defeated one of football’s giants. The trophy was lifted high, the black-and-white flag unfurled, and Europe bowed to the kings of Greece.

Dominance at Home

Back in the league, PAOK’s march continued with unstoppable force. In the fiery cauldron of the OPAP Stadium, AEK Athens delivered the only true blow to Maldini’s masterpiece. With venomous precision and unrelenting pressure, AEK controlled the match and defeated PAOK 3–1 — the single moment in the season when Maldini’s men were not the masters, but the mastered. It became the defeat that sharpened their resolve, the storm before the triumphs that followed. Maldini later admitted that this was the match that reminded his squad that greatness is never a straight line — it is built through fire. The team not only reclaimed the top spot but finished ten points ahead of Panathinaikos, the very club that had humiliated them at the season’s start. The circle was complete; the past avenged.

The Final Battle in Greece

But there was one more chapter.
In the final of the Greek Cup, destiny brought PAOK face-to-face with their fiercest local rival: Aris Thessaloniki. The match was a war of nerves, tackles, and willpower. After ninety exhausting minutes, the score remained locked (1-1)

In extra time, with the city’s heartbeat echoing across the stadium, PAOK struck. The two goals in ET sent the supporters into rapture, and as the final whistle blew, PAOK claimed the domestic double and their eternal bragging rights.

The Legendary Season of Paolo Maldini – A Managerial Masterpiece

For Paolo Maldini, a man whose playing career was etched into footballing eternity, this season with PAOK Thessaloniki became the chapter that elevated him from legend to myth.

Arriving in Greece with the aura of Milanese nobility but the hunger of a newcomer, Maldini shaped PAOK with a master’s touch. His campaign began in adversity — a painful defeat to Panathinaikos — yet it was precisely from this setback that he forged a team of steel, spirit, and destiny. Under his command, young stars flourished, veterans found new life, and the squad transformed into a disciplined, relentless machine.

He guided Konstantelias to the top of the league in assists, unleashed Giakoumakis to dominate as top scorer, revitalized Camara into a midfield colossus, and molded Pavlenka into a guardian worthy of legend. Every tactical tweak, every halftime speech, every bold decision carried Maldini’s unmistakable signature: calm authority, unwavering faith, and unmatched football intelligence.

The Europa League triumph — capped by a historic victory over Barcelona in the Stade de France — became the crown jewel of his managerial rise. The domestic double, secured through dominance in the league and a heroic derby win against Aris, sealed his immortality in Thessaloniki.

By season’s end, it was clear:
Paolo Maldini had not merely coached PAOK.
He had transformed them. Elevated them. Immortalized them.

I would say the most notable moments of this season, was that you crossed roads with both Aris and Olympiakos in the knock out stage.

In the 20 years I am playing Master League, i can recall rare moments that i met domestic rivals in European Championships, but two of them never, iirc.

It makes the success even better 😁

Great season mate - Some achievement winning a European trophy with a club outside the traditional ‘bigger’ leagues 👍🏻

I have just finished season 3 of my Colo Colo Master League.

Apologies for the lack of updates, I have really been enjoying this save but I have not had much time in between to provide detailed updates.

We pick back up at the start of season 2 after an unexpected triumph in the Copa Libertadores 🙌🏻

Season 2

Season 2 was both successful and disappointing in the same sense. We managed to win the league after a really close title race with rivals Universidad de Chile and Universidad Católica.

Unfortunately we lost the Copa Chile final to Universidad de Chile and we crashed out of the Copa Libertadores QF after an aggregate defeat to Boca Juniors.

However, it was great to land our first league title!

Season 3

Season 3 was absolutely historic - We tussled with Católica for most of the season in what was a really tight title race but we eventually came out on top and they fell away a bit towards the end.

We also broke our Copa Chile jynx by beating Deportes Melipilla in the final.

Then, finally, after a really disappointing defence of our Copa Libertadores title in season 2 we made it all the way again - This time, defeating Altetico Mineiro 2-1 in the final.

Season 4

Usually, I stick with the same team during my ML saves but I have opted for something different this time around after the success with Colo Colo.

I checked the state of the Argentinian league and noticed that Rosario Central were bottom and really struggling after the opening few games.

I leave my love affair with Colo Colo behind after 3 fantastic seasons but I am really excited by the challenge of building up another club. I’ll keep dropping in some updates once the Rosario Central ML picks up 🙌🏻

I leave my love affair with Colo Colo behind after 3 fantastic seasons but I am really excited by the challenge of building up another club. I’ll keep dropping in some updates once the Rosario Central ML picks up 🙌🏻

Quite the journey mate.
Going to Argentina is the right move, so many brilliant clubs to chose from
Good luck!

Have a hate/love affair with team spirit in ML
Can appreciate the struggle when having a low one, but pretty dull that it affects players abilities as well instead of just the team.

Wish they would have implemented it better, like on 2k with it going up and down depending on results and trades etc.
Been fiddling with a newly started ML on Pes 20 and Torino
Decent run so far, 2 w 2d 1L.
Can really like that scoring right now is so hard to do, know it's going to get easier but enjoying it a lot despite it being a struggle at times.

PES2021 Master League - Season 4 (Rosario Central)

We picked up the Rosario Central job in season 4 with them languishing in the bottom part of the Argentinian league with just 1 win from their first 8 matches.

One thing that jumped out to me straight away was how imbalanced and aging the squad was. I usually like to keep squad sizes to around 20 players max, but Rosario had around 30 players with many of them clearly not good enough and/or past their best. This is definitely going to be a major rebuild.

I made a decent start, winning 2 out of my first 4 games and managed to remain unbeaten for the rest of the season. However, we drew a lot of games and lacked real quality to dominate most of the time. The biggest highlight so far was a 4-0 win over arch rivals Newells Old Boys.

Rosario had already qualified for the Copa Libertadores and I fancied our chances of a decent cup run. Unfortunately, we fell short and really struggled in the group stage. Ultimately, this squad is going to need some serious investment to play how I usually like to play. We suffered two really disappointing defeats to Union Lá Calera of Chile which pretty much sealed our fate.

Overall, a mid table finish in the league was a decent effort considering they were second to
However, a major overhaul is going to be needed heading into season 5.

Vamos Rosario!

10 games in on my Torino ML (Pes 20) and its derby day vs Juventus.
Going in to this having lost my 2 previous games, so form not to good.

And as expected I didn't stand a chance Vs a very clinical Juventus
Created a few half assed chances and one good one but that was pretty it.609d8006-a167-48ba-9ad1-b13372b0c8c1.png

Looking at the stats pretty much tells the story, but this might not be the game to win, even though hopes are there before kickoff

10 games in and I'm sitting at a 12th place, expect it to be better after the winter break where my TS might be higher than my current one (79) and also bringing in a wide player to strengthen my 4-4-2 system.
I appreciate the struggle this game throws me, but also quite frustrating at times.

Next game is Vs a very strong Lazio and I expect that to be very challenging

Hard lines in the derby Rock, they can be pretty brutal in PES if things go against you.

Are you using any mods mate? Those stats from the AI are great! Looks like you were really up against it.

Cheers buddy, yeah can be brutal, think it was 4 yellow cards per team in this one.
Nope, vanilla Xbox for me, really liking how tough it's been so far, usually tired of Pes when it gets too easy, think I'll be very happy with a top 10 this season TBF

You guys asked for a new thread, so here we are.

Could a mod please sticky this one and unstick the PES5 thread so that it floats away. Ta :)

PES2021 Master League - Season 5 (Rosario Central)

Off the pitch activity was going to be just as important as what happens on the pitch as I started my first full season with Rosario.

A massive rebuild was required and we navigated a really busy transfer window quite successfully. We had a huge turnover, with 12 players departing and 6 players joining. We needed to improve the profile of the squad but also bring down the age/size of the squad too.

I was really happy with the business that we completed and it was back into action with the Copa Argentina. My main focus this season is to have a solid league campaign and concentrate on qualification for the Libertadores. We have no continental football this season due to our league finish last season, so the cup did feel like a really good opportunity to get our hands on some silverware.

We navigated the early ties really well and convincingly made it to the semi finals. We had a tight two legged affair with Argentinos Jnrs which we managed to win 2-0 on aggregate.

That set up a final with Estudiantes. Their league form has been poor at the start of the season but you can never rely on anything going in your favour ahead of a final. We made a positive start and took the lead just before the half hour mark. We made it 2-0 later in the first half and things were going perfectly. Estudiantes pulled a goal back with 20 minutes to go but we managed to hold out to win our first trophy with Rosario 🙌🏻…that’s Copa Libertadores football guaranteed next season too.

The league has been a slow burner as the cup competition takes place at the start of the season. With no distractions moving forward we can really concentrate on our season now and hopefully push for a decent finish. We have slowly came in to our own after failing to win our first 3 games. The effects of a lot incomings/outgoings definitely impacted our team spirit but we have slowly started to play well and pick up results.

I also really liked this goal - A brilliant ball into the feet of our new forward signing, Damir Ceter. He holds it up perfectly and Di Maria smashes a lovely outside of the foot finish past the goalkeeper.

Brilliant having libertadores secured.
I really like the setup with having the cup first, same system here in Sweden, taking away those bore pre season games.
Is the squad set for the season now?
Kinda like having a messed up squad when taking over, same for me it's all over the place, stacked with CB and CMF and no wingers, adds to the challenge for sure.
And is old Angry Maria in the squad?
Brilliant player.
Looking fw to your League Campaign mate
Vamos!

So Midway in on my first season and its tits up for Torino at the moment.
Went in to my game vs Genoa having a crappy streak, 6 games with no wins, 4 losses and 2 draws.
But I really flawed my way in this one winning 2-1.

Transfer window can't come quick enough for me.
Have 2 wingers coming in January and they are well needed to say the least.
Really enjoying the struggle right now.
Hopefully we'll get up on more secure grounds come January.

Two games left before the break, Roma away and Sassuolo at home

Going from a disastrous 6 game stint with no wins I suddenly turned on the jets for a 4 game winning streak where I've destroyed my opponents.
Really weird turn of events.
A hard victory to start of with Vs a tough Genoa, but I got it in the end

Then Roma away which turned to be very comfy, a solid 3-0 win.
After my victory away to Roma I had a blowout Vs Sassuolo

Next up was what I thought a tough away game vs Cagliari but it turned to be very comfortable, a Smashing of the Sardiniens 5-0

Dont really know whats been going on but I'll deffo take it
Next game is Napoli away which should be a tough one (or not?)
