• Hotmail/Outlook (any Microsoft email services) folks. Microsoft is currently blocking our emails. We have raised a support ticket with them and will update when we can.

    In the meantime it's possible that adding robot@evoweb.uk to your address book/contacts will help and if you're able to switch to a different email provider, that would work fine.

    We have also increased the number of bounce emails we can handle before accounts are marked as requiring verification again to hopefully mitigate the issue a bit as well.

The TV Show Thread

Only 1 episode left then to end the season... Then if you don't want to wait for a year, you can order the books and read them. There are a lot more "wtf" moments in them...

I've received today my copy of the 5th book, that just got released, after 5 years of wait!
 
Finished The Shield box set of 7 seasons. The season finale is meant to be one of the 'best hours of TV ever', but (perhaps I built it up too much), it didnt quite have the impact I was expecting, though very emotive.

Great, great show anyways and if anyone has passed it by, then get on it!
 
Just gone back and revisited Early Doors, criminally underrated, only 2 series, 12 episodes. One of the warmest, funniest and well written comedies I've ever watched. If you're a fan of Phoenix Nights you should check it out.

How wierd, I just finished watching this last week. Really enjoyed it, just like some of the pubs round here!
 
Very true I thought it was like a lot of the old boozers and their regulars, The traffic lights that Eddie was always going on about were proper roads in Stockport along with the Mcvitie's factory.
 
Finished Luther S1 earlier, a brilliant series and looking forward to getting started on S2 now.
 
Just watched the 2nd episode of Deadwood.

Quite enjoyable at the moment. Ian McShane is a cunt though (his character). I would've done an assassination attempt on him if his plan for the 2nd episode came off (he's playing the part too well I think).

The first 4-5 epidoes, as it happens with most big HBO shows, are only the setting up for the series. The episodes are very good, but then it makes the characters grow and grow. Ian McShane delivers one of the best characters ever, so be ready to love him even if his plans are indeed infamous.

I have a great T-hsirt a friend gave me as a present. It's black and has written in it: "What would Swarengen do?" I love that shirt.

That Spartacus above isnt right. Dont like that - they should have either cancelled the show, or carried on with another character. The viewers emotionally invested in the last actor and it just pulls you straight out of the show now with a different actor... :( I'll give it a go though.

Finally caught up on The Killing that we had Sky+ - really enjoyed it (though I've not seen the apparently superior Danish original).

My only fear is that this series is 13 episodes and they have already commissioned a 2nd season of 13 episodes! Hope they dont drag the same story out as its going to be spread pretty thin - maybe would have worked better as a stand-alone 6 parter.
 
Apparently they will have 2 storylines. This seasons will be completed and they will be working on another from the start aswell.

Watched Luther S2 over the weekend. It was good but found season 1 better.
Having two stories across 4 episodes felt a bit rushed to me. They could have just done one of them and the back story across the 4. From what I remember season 1 had one main story (Alice) and a couple of cases as back story...I thought that was better tbh.
 
Yep, well have to say I'm really taken on with this Deadwood. I have only watched the first 4 episodes, but it's been superb as yet.

Mind you I'm terrible, I was under the impression Deadwood was a fictious place, appears not to be and also obviously tieing in with Wild Bill.

Yes it's a real place and many of the characters are real but certain events are being embellished or fully created to fit the show, doesn't take anything away from perhaps the most faithful rendition of the Old West in TV Show form.
 
Even Swarengen himself and his "Gem" whorehouse-saloon existed in reality. But don't go looking for that info until you end viewing the TV series as you could easily find spoilers everywhere.

Enjoy the series, I envy you enjoying it for the first time. If someone patented a machine to forget specific memories, I could live happy forever watching Deadwood, Rome, The Wire, The sopranos and Game of Thrones over and over again.

Yeah mate, I will avoid looking up stuff.

Just watched the 10th Episode (Mr Wu) and I have to admit, this is up there with Sopranos, I loved The Wire but this is far far superior to it also (as was Sopranos). Ian McShane is quality in it. The chat with Wu had me in knots about the drug robbers.

Thanks guys for recommending this, if the next 2 seasons are as near to this quality I'll be a happy happy man!

Really? Everytime I think of the 1800's setting, it puts me off. Might give the first episode a try later today.
 
It is amazing. I personally cannot stand Timothy Olyphant (that's what puts me off watching Justified) but the cast in this show are great including him. Another superb HBO show.
