Valencia on PES 6

A year ago i started playing PES 6 on “coaching mode”, where i lead a team usually on Master League, to try and win things. I maintain the “no intervention” rule, to keep it as realistic as possible. Always on the highest levels of difficulty. It is quite fun actually, as it makes a nice change.
My first choice is always Real Madrid, with which i’m trying to emulate the real life transfers of Real Madrid from the 2006/07 season. I finished 3rd in the first season, and managed to win the league in the next, but there is one particular thing which i can’t seem to comprehend. And that is Valencia. They are almost unbeatable (by me), no matter in which competition i face them. I can beat Barcelona (though with difficulty), but Valencia…no chance. To draw against them, feels like an effing victory. If i score, they get one back in the next minute. If i lead for most of the game, they manage to draw at the very end. I’ve lost matches that i was leading by two goals, and by conceding the most ridiculous goals by the likes of Morientes&Villa. Joaquin almost always gets an assist from the right side, Edu wins every single duel in the middle and very often scores as well, Baraja does not let anyone go past. My forwards seem clueless against their line of defence (Ayala and co.). I like that the game is competitive, but Valencia…they do get on your nerves.
Did any of you have similar experiences where you can’t seem to crack a certain team?

Valencia in PES 6 were absolute demons. I had the exact same experience back in the day. For some reason Konami made them ridiculously efficient on higher difficulties. It wasn’t even about star ratings, it was how perfectly balanced they felt in-game. Baraja and Albelda controlled midfield like machines, Joaquin always produced that one killer cross, and Villa turned into prime Ronaldo whenever he played against you.

What made them worse was their AI behaviour. They defended deep, stayed compact and then punished every tiny mistake instantly. You could dominate possession for 70 minutes and still lose 2-1 from two counterattacks. I honestly feared them more than Barcelona. At least against Barca you could find space. Against Valencia it always felt like fighting against scripting itself.

That’s exactly what i’m talking about! Their AI behaviour is scary. A player like Edu defends and attacks like a Gerrard or Lampard, and is virtually unpassable. I’ve beaten Barcelona quite often, but last season for example, i faced Valencia 6 times, from which 3 losses, 2 draws and one win (1-0).
