I hadn't heard of this until today - and I haven't even played an Assetto Corsa game - but I love rally games, and this looks absolutely excellent.

It is amazing. I love every part of it. GFX, Sound, weather, how it drives. Every corner or even straight can eat You alive. Each SS is a battle with terrain and weather. Leaves are on the tarmac on the ground like in tv in european central rally. When its raining the leaves are in the air. You can feel the wheater, the dirt. Unlike in Ea wrc. Sound is amazing. Driving in tarmac feels great totally different than in gravel. Dynamic time and weather. Damage is so well made, you can damage all the chasis, even bulbs.

the sound

Just out of interest, what specs are your PC rig? The more I watch that vid, the more I'm convincing myself to buy this :D

Just purchased this on Steam, and will give it a go tomorrow. I'm really getting into rally games, and am quite new to it.. racing sims in general. EA WRC doesn't do much for me, but Dirt Rally (due to the Pikes Peak tracks/cars) and Dirt Rally 2.0 in particular, are my go to... im crap, but getting better. Im on a Thrustmaster T300 gt, with pedals... but no shifter or handbrake yet. Anyways, Im keen for this AC Rally, and by looking at the youtube reviews, and graphics, it looks amazing. How does it compare to DR 2.0? Im not big on Richard Burns Rally, and to be honest, I get a better feel and ffb setup using DR 2.0. I downloaded EA WRC and to be honest, only played it a handful of times, as the feel, graphics, frame rates etc were so much better on DR2.0.

btw, of all rally games, over the last 2 or so years, guess which one ive played the most, and still play more regularly than any other... believe it or not ART OF RALLY. Actually works with a wheel.. just doesnt have ffb.. brilliant game, with a higher camera. If only there was a AOR 2.0 in the works, with proper wheel/ffb support, and better engine sounds. The engine and envirmental sounds on AC Rally sound pretty damn impressive.

I know this is blasphemy, but how is this with a controller? I enjoyed wrc 9 and 10 but man a little bad turn and you were screwed

I had this exact same thought and, looking at Reddit - not great. :( But it's sort of understandable given how serious a sim it is.

I'll probably never own a wheel and pedals again, but if any racing game has ever tempted me, it's this one.

Dirt 2 is nothing to compare in terms of hardcore gameplay and the rest. Trust me
Edit: Dirt 2 and Dirt Rally 2.0 are 2 very different games, and Im assuming you meant Dirt Rally 2.0? Im talking about DR2.0.

And i thought Dirt Rally 2.0 was a sim lol. Just tried ACR, and wow... what a difference. So much more weight to the car, where I was just going way too fast for my amateurish skill level, too much heavy throttling, to the point I often couldn't brake quickly enough around corners. Even with the 4wd Lancia Delta HF, often found myself oversteering, and being able to counter in time for a full wipe out.

Went back to DR2.0 right after, and wow... I can drive so much faster, and still be under relatively good control.

Moral of the story is... ACR is a core sim... and i need to treat all cars accordingly. Crazy how hard this is atm, but im loving it. Just wished my T300 gt wheel's d-pad would work, as it have to use my keyboard or controller to navigate up and down the menu. Im guessing this will be fixed.

Chris, get yourself a half decent wheel.. you won't regret it. The thrustmaster t300 gt was the best purchase i ever made for racing games. Does an amazing job, and when set up right, is kick ass for ART OF RALLY, probably my most played rally game. I get better precision, and times with the wheel than when I compare to using my ps5 controller:

I am thinking of upgrading soon though... ie. possibly Fanatec direct drive (not sure which one i should go for as a next step from T300) with a rally style wheel, and handbreak/sequential shifter. I dont have cockpit, nor really need one, but have my current wheel/pedals attached to a next level 2.0 frame, and simply sit on my couch with this frame up close.. very comfortable.

Replays look amazingly realistic.
In terms of performance, I have an AMD 7900xtx GPU/ 7800X3d CPU combo, and everything runs smoothly in default med/high settings..i just turn on vsync and fps limit to 120 in menu, and play on a 1080p@120hz screen.
I do notice the odd tearing.

But if I up it to ULTRA in video settings, seems pc can't handle it well, with quite a few micro stutters etc. In comparison DR2.0 is so damn smooth n optimized.

I have tried Reshade with ACR, and it works well.. I like my games slightly more saturated and softer around the edges (use Chromaticity, colorMAME etc.) .

One thing I will say, is this ACR game is difficult, and my natural/bad habit, of just flooring the throttle stuffs me up big time. I'm in lower gears, and having to feather the throttle to succeed in this game. Interestingly, after about an hour of playing this game, and ever so slowly improving with less throttle, and just taking way more care than usual (taking it slow), and then going straight to DR2.0 - not only is DR2.0 so much easier, but I'm seeing an immediate improvement in my times and what I'm able to achieve in that game. So ACR is actually improving my overall rally gaming, which is great.

I decided to treat myself to it. At €21.50, you can't say no.
I'll try it out soon.

But I'm eagerly awaiting a video from the YouTube channel Cookie and Cars featuring AC Rally. :BRMM:

She's just a great woman and rally driver.

What I've found a bit disappointing so far is that there's not enough dirt on the cars. At least that's what I've seen in some screenshots and a few videos when it's raining and/or muddy.

But above all, I'm hoping for better early access than AC Evo!

R.I.P EA WRC
As a fan of Rally games, i brought two years ago (if i remember well) WRC 10 for 10 euros, PS5.
Now we got on the 3 monthly game the new WRC version EA.... Mehhh. Samey issues, both ultra fast and no feeling while riding etc. you don't feel the "Rally's gaming" sensations at all.
I play with Gravel, over-underestimated Rally game, got really fun with it. Accessible to play but customizable to be more Sim. Prefers it even to all rally games i tried.
Well, a bit like a good Fifa or PES they were Action(s) based/Sim balance+physics, that's my mojo.

Not a big fan of super upper SIM racing games at all now that's my own preferences (with a controller or the full Wheel/pedal pack).

Assetto Corsa really tilted me with that trailer. It's looking really natural in motion, beautiful and the photogenic style is georgous. Definitively keeping an eye on it.
Only hoping that you can play with more assistance semi-arcade style :JAY: while keeping the same realism regarding physics, WRC driving is way too fast but "e-sports games" way, vehicles feels way too light, and too sensible in controls whatever parameters you mod.
