Phew I am happy for everyone enjoying the game but calling journalists urinalists and so on goes in a direction I am usually only used to by certain fanatics. I am used to that there will be different opinions. Not every journalist will like the games I like and vice versa. Critique is always subjective. But name-calling is just weird to be honest. The opinion someone else has about a came will 0 influence how I personally feel about a game so it is just weird. I still read Eurogamer and other magazines because it is a viewpoint no matter if I agree with them or not.
I also bought the game to take a look: and it is not for me.
Love the Witcher, Cyberpunk, Baldurs Gate, Divinity 2 and many more but Crimson Desert doesn't catch me.
The world feels to me like a theme park filled with everything but doesn't give me the feeling of a real lived in world like Gothic or KCD 2. So I get what Eurogamer meant in their review. For me it is also empty. Not because there aren't things there but it misses for me what for example made Gothic 2 so special. Less can sometimes feel like more when done right
Everything just feels placed instead of lived in. The controls on console are a catastrophe and I do understand the criticism. They could have done a better job there.
The fighting feels great but I also get the bloated MMO feel from the quests.
In the end just not my cup of tea which is too bad since I usually love those kind of games.
But for me it all starts with the world itself which as weird as it might sound is way too clean for what it should be. I just can't immerse myself in it and now have switched to Greedfall 2 for now.
