Fifa 15 thankfully is satisfying to me. Earlier I was mentioning did stats other than the physical ones really matter? I can clearly say yes they do.
Example, playing CM on legendary mode, using Liverpool...who really haven't got any good DM's. So started playing and I was getting my ass handed to me, even with five at the back. I have come to the conclusion that defending in Fifa is broken down into 3 things:
1) Timing - the right time to press standing tackle.
2) Blocking - Not going in for the challenge, just blocking the CPU from making the pass or cross it wants to do.
3) Luck - Yes there is a bit of luck involved because the ball will knock off your defenders and can end up anywhere. Which is a good thing.
So after many many games I have finally found a formula for succeeding against legendary mode, be it a tad unrealistic, but it is very satisfying winning against the cpu on this mode.
The formation....5-3-2...Two DM....1 AM....2 ST.
I always make my WB overlap, my strikers to stay central, and my AM to stay forward.
Ok even using this, I was getting beat. The problem? Lack of good defenders. Sakho, Lovren, Skirtel, although there OVR stat is borderline 80, they lack the proper stats for defending.
So here is the unrealistic part. I pretty much sold my entire team to fund for 5, yes 5 defenders who can
a) Jump
b) Marking
c) Standing Tackle
D) Acceleration.
For me the top 3 are the most important, make sure all those stats are above 80 or very close. I bought (off top of my head) Juan Jesus, Iningo Martinez, the French PSG defender beginning with M? Manouqusomething, young lad, Radu from Lazio and Caceras from Juventus.
The reason I have CB for WB is simple. When the CPU crosses, if you have a small WB, he will get out jumped and they will score. The two DM I got were Matuldi and Gustavo (apologies for spelling). Then upfront is all about pace and strength. Balotelli, Sturridge and Markovic as AM.
Team tactics, fast build up, short passing, high risk creativity, narrow defending (this is because the CPU can turn you in an instant so you need to crowd the penalty area to have bodies in there) and high pressure.
After doing this I will honestly say that against really good teams, your goals will come from counter attacking with the quick guys upfront. Other teams you can score a variety of goals, crosses, through balls.
Hope this helps anyone who is struggling with Legendary mode and just wants to win against the CPU. The lesson I have learnt here is that the CPU can twist and turn you out in a heart beat and can score easily against you. Especially against 5* teams. So I take great satisfaction in scoring goals against them even if it is a pacey guy running from 40 yards out sprinting past a defender!
