Football Manager Series

Also uploaded the real media and real agents pack to OneDrive.
There is also a new license fix file which I uploaded - However only small fixes.

I tried to analyse my tactics and have realised that no longer you can see Average Position or Pass Map, again why have they taken that out? It is a stupid decision, you cannot analyse your tactics any longer.

This, and being able to see what your U18's form looks like, are real killers for me. I would put up with a terrible UI if it wasn't for such obviously important tools being missing. I'm hoping they're added in during the game's lifecycle.

What a bug is this !

You can change the opponent tactic while managing your team :APPLAUD:(but changes aren't taken into consideration)

I wouldn't trust FM Match Lead team. They don't have access to the source code so they have no clue what has changed on the match engine. Just because SI have removed some match parameters/config file, doesn't mean the simulation is more simple. Plus they have had to change parts of match engine to support off the ball and with ball tactics. Plus tests have confirmed that gegen pressing is no longer overpowered.
Happy to retract my previous comment re: the FM Match Lead team's findings, based on this SI employee statement about their comments:

To be fair, all the bugs, bad UI etc. are already known to everyone. So why should I trust the words of any developer/employee more than the words from someone, who gains absolutely nothing from pointing out negative things? To me this just reads like damage control. Also this guy and a lot of people in the subreddit discredit the original post, because it talks about file size. But to me it does not sound like countvronsky is saying that in general smaller file size means it is worse. He just points out that there must have been changes, and in his opinion not to the better.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. But to me it is clear, that FM has the same fate as FIFA or PES: They have no real competition, so they get lazy (= EA). But since they still earn big money, thanks to a loyal fanbase, they just tell some lies here and there but have no real reasons to push the game any further, because many will still buy the game (=PES/eFootball). Just look at the subreddit and see how many people are delusional and try to argue, that the bugs and bad UI are really not that bad.

I am never a fan of the word "lazy". Because I do believe teams make wrong decisions or go in wrong directions but that is different from being "lazy" I am actually pretty sure no one at Sports Interactive has been lazy in the last two years, quite the opposite the amount of bugs more speaks for a team being overworked and not having enough time to do everything that was in plan.

We often forget that there is people behind those games who often times sacrifice private life to make games (just look up the crunch culture in game development).

So I think terms like lazy are just the wrong word to use. I don't think in general people working on games be it developers, designers or producers are lazy or don't care. Quite the opposite if you look at pay in the games industry compared to other IT industries it is very likely people work on games because they love making games, since they could earn way more in non gaming companies.

There is a lot to criticize about FM 26, for me there is a lot of wrong decision making and definitely it seems they didn't have a well structured plan for where they wanted the game to go.

I think they've had a perfectly good plan, consoles etc, not PC, strip it back and please people who aren't arsed about depth. They've succeeded. Just feels like a mobile game now.

Recommending I plug in a controller on PC says it all, laughable.

So, I'm extremely casual player and am trying to get into this (FM24). I always start a season but never get through it as my football knowledge is very shallow.
If I delegate a bunch of things (trainings, other coaches suggestions, some speeches, etc), am I crippling my team? Yesterday I started a season in Poland second division, it was fun but I didnt know what I was doing. Shouting to the team, but then they got angry when I complimented them...
- Is it easier to start with a lower not so good team (3rd division England/Spain vs a EPL/La Liga)?
-Do I need to search internet for a wonderkid and sign them when they are 15yo to make it easier?
- is this a game to just keep playing even with mistakes, like ck3 where you just go with whatever rng happens

I get lost in complexity but want to get into it without really doing all the micromanagement at once and easing into it, would it be possible?

I played FM intensely in the past, but nit really since fm20.

As a fellow CK player...I would say it's not really a game where you keep playing if everything goes wrong. If you got relegated, sure, try and bring your team back up...but it can get to a point where negativity builds on negativity.

In terms of shouts firstly, I may be way off here, but I found that the shouts I used caused negative reactions where maybe I picked the wrong time to give those shouts. Or...I was too soft with a team that expected to win a match and therefore didnt want encouragement after being 0-2 down to a weaker team. They expected a bollocking. Being too nice made me look weak.
So there is a degree of psychology involved, and the personality of the players is also relevant. However, i also find there is a degree to which shout reactions were random and incoherent.

In terms of footballing knowledge, if it's tactics you're looking to gain more knowledge about...try watching some of the really good grown ups who do tactical analysis on YouTube. Some of even those are total bullshitters, but some are great. Adam Cleary tends to focus on narrower issues, but he still reveals a lot of tactical insight.
There are others too.

As for delegating...not since uni have i had time for training or staff hiring. I always delegate and concentrate on transfers, squad management and tactics. However...I tend to play as Liverpool so my staff are elite. When I have played lower down the leagues...I think it's worth doing more yourself, or at least supervising to make sure training etc is being done sensibly by your staff. So maybe at the start of each season...carefully set up training, carefully go through your staff etc and make sure everything makes sense for how you want to play. Then forget about it.

Honestly...I don't find interacting with people interesting at all in FM. And training to be gruelling, and more like work. I find looking at traits and opinions also a but boring in ck2 (better in ck3 though due to better UI). So...I think you have to do enough micromanaging to begin with in the areas you don't enjoy...so that you can spend most of your time doing what you do enjoy (in FM that's tactics and matches for.me and in CK, it's scheming and revenge!)

Added.a bit more at the end of my post which will hopefully summarise a little more helpfully...

From the SI forum (source)... :(

The first hotfix patch has been released - 30 fixes. There's 4,000+ bugs currently logged on their forums. Even if you assume 1,000 are easy fixes or duplicates of other bugs, that's 100 patches, or (if released weekly) almost 2 years of work.

There's no shying away from what a technical disaster this is. It's scaring me a little bit in regards to what it means for the future.

The Tactical and Strategy forum on the official SI forum community has old and new threads that will allow you to have more idea about the game.

When I was a new starter, I always had to do everything by my self. آow I would delegated Opposite team instructions to the best staff member that could do it.
I delegate the scout work to the Football director, he will bring players to the team and give scouts instructions for the reports.
The idea is to exploit the IA (staff members, assistant coach, Football director..) to help me manage the team.

But before doing any delegation, and its an IA, I check the required staff attributes for each responsibility. Here's an article that would help

You can get easily sacked if you loose players confidence and morals or if results are bad, career won't over, you need to start another of search for another club

bugs are hiding the fact the immersion is getting decreased by features being removed. No shouts during the match, I've read that Teamtalk before a match is no longer in the game. U23 and U18 teams managements have less features

The more I play it the more I dislike the game.
I would have loved to see how bad the game was a year ago before they cancelled it.

They need to make two versions of the game plain and simple.
PC version and console version - unfortunately there is no middle ground which makes everyone happy.
Try to please everyone and you please no one.
This version is fine for console but they have cut too many features for the game to appeal to its normal fans.

It saddens me that instead of having two new versions of the game and brand new great features, we now have a game missing loads of features and buggy as shit, which is going to take 2/3 years to fix and get to even the stage of the FM24.

Dumbing down games to appeal to the masses has killed every franchise I used to love.
FM, FIFA, Civilization, it is only Paradox who are keeping strategy games on PC going.
Most games I play these days feel like playing a 15 hour tutorial

And even paradox aren't a sure bet either. But at least they are trying...

It's one problem after another.

After the latest hotfix, all data hub visuals have missing numbers now as well. You can view the Reddit thread about this here.

There's just no defending this.

Not only that, but I'm seeing more posts about the match engine being far too easy to win. Again, Reddit thread is here.

Finally...

If one modder can increase the UI speed like this, without breaking anything - it suggests the devs are, frankly, bad. Reddit thread is here.

Newgen faces are preloaded ?

I saw this earlier and - it can't be true can it? That would be absolutely ridiculous.

I'm hoping these images are generated with each new save to save loading times or something, rather than being the same pool of images... Because if that's how you're doing it, why aren't you doing what the community do and making them photo-realistic to match their 3D models' details?

I have uploaded the UI speed thing to OneDrive and the New Gen faces.
Also uploaded the new Licenses fix file.
