So, I'm extremely casual player and am trying to get into this (FM24). I always start a season but never get through it as my football knowledge is very shallow.
If I delegate a bunch of things (trainings, other coaches suggestions, some speeches, etc), am I crippling my team? Yesterday I started a season in Poland second division, it was fun but I didnt know what I was doing. Shouting to the team, but then they got angry when I complimented them...
- Is it easier to start with a lower not so good team (3rd division England/Spain vs a EPL/La Liga)?
-Do I need to search internet for a wonderkid and sign them when they are 15yo to make it easier?
- is this a game to just keep playing even with mistakes, like ck3 where you just go with whatever rng happens
I get lost in complexity but want to get into it without really doing all the micromanagement at once and easing into it, would it be possible?
I played FM intensely in the past, but nit really since fm20.
As a fellow CK player...I would say it's not really a game where you keep playing if everything goes wrong. If you got relegated, sure, try and bring your team back up...but it can get to a point where negativity builds on negativity.
In terms of shouts firstly, I may be way off here, but I found that the shouts I used caused negative reactions where maybe I picked the wrong time to give those shouts. Or...I was too soft with a team that expected to win a match and therefore didnt want encouragement after being 0-2 down to a weaker team. They expected a bollocking. Being too nice made me look weak.
So there is a degree of psychology involved, and the personality of the players is also relevant. However, i also find there is a degree to which shout reactions were random and incoherent.
In terms of footballing knowledge, if it's tactics you're looking to gain more knowledge about...try watching some of the really good grown ups who do tactical analysis on YouTube. Some of even those are total bullshitters, but some are great. Adam Cleary tends to focus on narrower issues, but he still reveals a lot of tactical insight.
There are others too.
As for delegating...not since uni have i had time for training or staff hiring. I always delegate and concentrate on transfers, squad management and tactics. However...I tend to play as Liverpool so my staff are elite. When I have played lower down the leagues...I think it's worth doing more yourself, or at least supervising to make sure training etc is being done sensibly by your staff. So maybe at the start of each season...carefully set up training, carefully go through your staff etc and make sure everything makes sense for how you want to play. Then forget about it.
Honestly...I don't find interacting with people interesting at all in FM. And training to be gruelling, and more like work. I find looking at traits and opinions also a but boring in ck2 (better in ck3 though due to better UI). So...I think you have to do enough micromanaging to begin with in the areas you don't enjoy...so that you can spend most of your time doing what you do enjoy (in FM that's tactics and matches for.me and in CK, it's scheming and revenge!)
