Pure Football gameplay mod

I've tried quite a few matches with this mod, and it really feels great. Not only is the game slower and less frantic, but defenses are smarter and better positioned, there are more random events ocurring, more blocks and interceptions, and tackling seems like it's much more realistic. Overall I've really enjoyed it,

The only drawback (for me), is that I play 10 minute halves in almost every FIFA, and 20 is too much for my playing preferences.. I was wondering if perhaps @Hels The Ronin, there was any way you could create a "shorter halves" version of this mod (for more realistic scores with this duration) without sacrificing too much of this great gameplay..

All in all, I think modded FIFA 23 can be a quite fun, and since I have found a great South American patch for it, I plan to play it for a long while.. It'd be great if perhaps I could spark your interest in this title once again.. Thanks a lot for your great work, man. :TU:
Tried to make it work the other day and for some reason it wouldn't... Need to check back again.

I also dusted off FIFA 23 because I think it's more fun than its successors with the right mods... however I don't play it much because I'm not managing to find a patch that updates the game to the current season, which mod are you using? both for squads and gameplay

I am using LTA patch, which is highly focused on Latin American Leagues!

In terms of gameplay, I am rotating between different mods and sliders. :)

@Hels The Ronin Man what a great gameplay here for FIFA 23 !! I really enjoy it

I own FC 25, FC 26 and even modded with other gameplay mods, they aren't even close to this FIFA 23 feeling + YOUR MOD !!! Everything seems less snappy , ball is a bit more detached from player's legs. Really great job !!!
I have on question though, is it possible to make it so the CPU urgency to attack is less ? It seems that almost always the CPU is trying to go forward instead of keeping posession ?

* I remember @hatesince97 did a great mod for FIFA 22 where CPU will keep possession and changed the game completely, But it seems he closed his account here :(

Never managed to make the CPU behave correctly. I've thought several times about trying again FC modding but tbh, old FIFA's give better results to me for the moment.

Might try FC 27 though.

What made me to stay with FIFA 23 is that is the last modern game, and the ball is still ( well, way less attached to player's legs ?)

Just launched FC25 then FIFA 23 and man what a difference how the ball more naturally rolls

Most of the people forget about FIFA/FC Versions quick when a new Game is launched in autumn. And with it they forget that not always only just a new game release makes everything better like in the last game release. I also like to "travel" around from time to time to older EA Versions and always found much that I really liked in previous games. If EA would only release their games in a 2 year cycle it would help in many aspects for them and for us Players. Fine tune their games a.e. from EA Side is a word I would say, instead of making mostly rushed GP updates and Squad updates.
But yeah, if the sold Game Versions every year are suit their desires, why not keeping 1 year releases.

You're not wrong on this, but I think that somehow it's normal that people always tend to play the newer and "shinier" (in marketing terms, at least) version of it. Most people, when a new season begins, look forward to playing with the new squads, kits, competitions...
And even the ones playing Clubs (which hardly gets updated from one season to another!) or UT just follow the mass as, especially in UT, the beginning of a season is where one can get a "head start".
It would be absolutely fool for EA not to monetize on this, and that's why they keep releasing a new game each year at a full price instead of "season DLC's" to be applied to a "rolling" game (a thing that CAN be done, consider the EURO 2012 content for FIFA 12 which was a paid DLC, or the various free World Cup updates that got released for FIFA 18, FIFA 19 and FIFA 23).

They even tried that approach once, trying to do something similar to what eFootball is now.
Between late 2013 and 2015, FIFA World was a free to play game which got released with 2013/14 content at launch and then got a season update (the rosters and assets got updated to 2014/15 in October 2024, if I recall correctly).
The good thing of it was that while in Seasons mode the 2013/14 content got replaced by the 2014/15 one, in FUT cards from both seasons would coexist, adding an extra layer of depth and making it a better experience than FUT 15.
Too bad they decided to end it in July 2015, as it was actually an interesting side project.

I agree with you. Of course EA did what every company do the same way. When you get an huge amount of money for an always working product they would be dumb to not releasing in a yearly cycle. Not to forget they always deliver a licensed football Game (besides the couple of Italian Clubs) which costs some bucks I would say for the licensed Players in a video Game.

Usual thing, sure. The good thing is older Games are not lost and can be replayed every time from the Library of EA App. Ok, to be correct, this doesn´t count for Ubisoft. Deleting "The Crew" Game from purchased customer accounts showed what are properly can happen if a company claims "The Games are doesn´t belong to us". :))

Don't get me started on this, I did have it in my library.
Of course this is the main reason why I haven't bought Motorfest yet (and I probably never will).
Another game that they suddenly decided to delist from everywhere (to the extent that it is now almost impossible to find either new or used at a reasonable price) is Driver: San Francisco.
Oh, well, are those Ubisoft games now to be considered abandonware? RPCS3, I choose you! :PIRATE:

A bit sarkasm is allowed in this world we are living. :)) The thing is I "had" owned the game by myself. To not hijacking completly the thread of Hels the Ronin I just wanna finally mention that there is already a great Mod around in the Internet from smart Guys who have transformed the offline Version of the original The Crew Game to an working private Online Server where everyone can play the game from Alpha to Omega without missing a single Mission! The Modded Server is completly free and everybody can join to play the Game which Ubisoft has stolen from us. And it´s easy to install on top. Maybe @*aLe may know this. And others also I hope.
I stop now refering about that non topic and sorry @Hels The Ronin for the off topic.

Nah, is ok, don't worry. I was about to comment myself on the Crew mod, since it happens coincidentally, that I am in their discord server (because yeah, I love way too many types of games tbh) and love the initiative. More over, I am even considering getting into The Crew modding to make a handling mod for the crew in order to reduce a bit the grip and make it more like The Crew Motorfest handling, where cars slide more and have less grip in general, since The Crew story was great but handling was a bit too arcade for my taste.

Anyways, in case you want to try this mod that allows you to create an offline server to play the Crew 1 on your own server, it's called The Crew Unlimited. If you look for it and get into their discord server, you've got there all the instructions on how to play the game.

Railing it back to the topic of the thread, if you ask me, old FIFA's give better results than newer ones. Tbh, I feel that best FIFA's are 15 to 17. FIFA 17 has a lot of good things, but has a problem where the RT+LT mechanic, called Face up dribbling, works only when you press and hold both triggers at the same time, unlike FIFA16, where you could first hold one then the other and transition more freely between Face up and either sprinting or defending with your body.

For this reason I consider FIFA 15-16 probably the two best. In this case what changes for FIFA 15-16, is the use of LB, which in FIFA 15 would allow to move with the ball more swiftly, like stepping on the ball and such, and in FIFA 16 I think it would be used to make a feint wit the body without touching the ball, like in 17.

I like both of them, and both have great potential (as does FIFA 17 despite the face up dribbling problem), but I'd say FIFA 15 is a bit closer in terms of passing and match rythm to FIFA 14, and is, therefore, a bit less assisted in certain ways and a bit more rough in passing, both for the good and for the bad.

Anyways, the important thing is that both are primer FIFA in what Match tempo refers, and probably will be the games I focus on when I get my pc back from repairing.

For me, simulation football is the most feasible in this two games, because of both the control scheme and the behaviour of the AI, so most probably will be the focus of my work.

I am already in the The Crew Unlimited Server and enjoying to race again through USA. It´s amazing what Modders make possible when there is huge interest around. Oh, that much Gaming Interest is with me as well. Currently I play and mod GTA V again. The fact that the new Game releases in next autumn (if Rockstar keeps this time his word) gives much time to still play GTA V. And with Mods like Scripts and Graphic mods it´s still enjoyable.

And related to the Footy Games you mentioned I agree. I see 16 a bit in front of 15 (personally). Not only because of Mods which are more spread for 16, but gameplaywise FIFA 15 have also his benefits.
And FIFA 17 would be my first pick if the custom face adding would be doable like starting in FIFA 19. Paul-v has released a FMT Version with many new features for FIFA 17. Did you saw?
Just yesterday I re discovered an CG File Explorer again for 17 at FIFAInfinity from Shawminator. Idk if it is possible to do more as file exploration with the tool. If you wanna take a look:

Head importion is now possible for FIFA 17! Hair unfortunately not yet but it's a very big step towards full face importion.
For example Haaland(without hair):

How easy would this be to do with fifa 18?
that's a question to paulv.

The main issue right now is that it already took a lot of time to make support for FIFA 17. FMT tool doesn't even have a profile for FIFA 18.
The next thing right now is making hair importion for FIFA 17 and only then probably there can be any talk about FIFA 18 mesh importion. Though again, paulv doesn't have that much time to take on FIFA 18 as well.

Very late to this, but I've been trying out different gameplay mods. Thankfully, this one gets rid of the sliding the other gameplay mods seem to still have (Other than Anth)
My problem is that the players still move like molasses when they have the ball. I turned sprint speed and acceleration up a bit, but just the overall animations are a little slow. It does not feel like I'm controlling professional footballers.

Is there maybe a version where they aren't as slow? I'm using the most recent version.

Would need to go back into FIFA 23 modding and check again the animation speed to see if I can kinda of solve the issue.

You can do Hella things in newer FIFA's but it's really difficult to be able to get to a solid state where players behave like real footballers.
