meh only reason I still play FC26 is because of the career mode of the female side of the football
same reason I persevere with FM 26 😅

For all of FC's faults one thing I've absolutely loved about is the attention they give to women's football. I hope that doesn't change with the Saudi takeover.meh only reason I still play FC26 is because of the career mode of the female side of the football

Same here. Even if I wish there were more leagues, like the Italian Serie A, I'm just happy of what we have for now and to be able to at least play a rudimental career mode with women (and like you I'm just hoping that it doesn't get thrown out of the window with the acquisition, of course). For all of FC's faults one thing I've absolutely loved about is the attention they give to women's football. Apart from enjoying the "Women Patch" in FIFA 16 (which was fan-made content but in terms of quality was outstanding), I might say that I enjoyed the Women's World Cup when it was there (I sadly expect it not to return anymore though, now that the partnership with FIFA has ended), and I think that also including a (very basic, that has to be said) UWCL in the game, even if not all the teams taking place in it are featured, has been a good move.
In terms of content, all in all, I don't think we could really complain though.
I know, I'd also love to have all teams properly licensed (with also GK kits, the absence of which kinda spoils the immersion in lower leagues), more leagues in the women's career, and some more exotic leagues even in the men's one (so we could try and find the new Ronaldinho or the new Salah there) but I accept that some of the leagues and teams I'd love to see have an exclusive partnership with Konami (not that I second that, for me exclusive licences shouldn't be a thing... But money is money) and other aren't just enough in demand because many of the players only wish to play FUT with 85+ rated players and don't care about offline modes... But I'm trying to be happy of what we have here instead of sad for what we could have (or for what we had and got taken away, like the World Cup content).
Women's soccer is very interesting imo, one of my friends follow it a lot and we often play together with the women's teams. But even beyond that I think it's an amazing that a game as mainstream as FC 26 has support for women's soccer. I don't think I've played any other sports games with support for a women's mode, let alone one as popular as FC.why do you like playing women side? never tried it

Also volleyball (probably more than men’s one!) and athletics/swimming (think about the London 2012 videogame for example).Women’s tennis, golf and basketball are well represented in video games.
From what I understand, this will improve in the coming years. I asked them to add more animations leading up to the first touch and to create ball physics just for the authentic mode. In addition, I asked EA to improve the AI so that it understands the urgency and context of games, even in previous games. Next year should be a great year for career mode, and I hope the gameplay will be good too.I don't know about you guys but these days I've been enjoying default authentic mode. I think they've reduced the herky jerky movement and players have weight to them. Dribbling past CPU is very satisfying. Sure there are areas that should be improved such as CPU trying to find perfect pass. They should play a little bit of chaotic football. Take risks etc.
Overall I'm really satisfied. Yeah I've tried different gameplay mods like Anth's but I prefer the default authentic mode now.
BTW I was the guy who couldn't even play a single match without a gameplay mod before.
Sadly, this is intentional. The developers made the AI worse since around FIFA 19 to create a greater skill gap for competitive play - it’s essentially 1v1. In fact, the 1v1 defending mechanism is just this - it prohibits a second defender from pressuring to create a double team. It seems that slowly Authentic mode is removing some of these Competitive features but it will take time and hopefully the development team will continue to prioritize Authentic mode, since sadly, it does not seem to be a moneymaker (see Konami). From what I understand, this will improve in the coming years. Some of the feedback I sent them, I must have sent about 100 or more and they always thank me for the quality of the feedback.
Two feedbacks about gameplay that I received from the people of Operation Sports.
- fix the fullback Roles so that they work as intended.
- for Authenticity Features only, the AI should be varied in how they build-up and attack throughout a game. They should be able to both take a few touches and scan the field before making a pass without dwelling on the ball for too long and progress the ball forward and create chances. The AI on Authenticity Features also need to stop making those weird passes at extreme angles where they can’t see who or where they’re passing to. If they’re being pressed and their back is to the opposition, a simple pass back is sometimes the safest option.
Something that would be interesting for the future is to make the ball physics more unpredictable. Try adding more animations that precede the first touch; I feel that sometimes the ball sticks to the players' feet.
In addition, bring more physicality to the game. I believe we are in a better stage than FC25, but there could be more impact on physicality, which would generate more fouls.
Another feedback
While the improvements to FCIQ in FC26 are noticeable, the system still lacks essential off-ball defensive behaviors that are crucial for realism and tactical depth. At the moment, players without the ball don’t consistently show intelligent defensive anticipation, tracking, or spatial awareness, which limits the effectiveness of many tactical setups.
Adding more off-ball defensive roles—such as better recognition of passing lanes, earlier tracking of runners, coordinated pressing triggers, and more adaptive positioning—would greatly elevate team behavior. These tools would allow players to execute a broader range of defensive strategies and make individual attributes feel more meaningful.
No offense intended here but it does confuse the heck out of me that it requires someone like you to submit this back to them. They are a AAA studio with billions generated in revenue. It would cost them very little (in respect to the total budget) to have 1 single game designer who knows football to make the points you are making. Some of the feedback I sent them, I must have sent about 100 or more and they always thank me for the quality of the feedback.
its the lack of realistic physics engine. as i pointed out theres a video explaning why physics doesnt work in madden or fifa - its tied to the circle below the player and not the player animation. its a core deep issue that cant be fixed until they revamp it.No offense intended here but it does confuse the heck out of me that it requires someone like you to submit this back to them. To me, there is something far more deep that is the problem with either the game or the game direction. As much as they've added "Authentic", it really frustrates me that they dont seem to know what "Authentic" truely means or refuse to really achieve it. They have all the tools to create something already, it shouldnt take another 2, 3, 4 years for it to become better.
Literally every football game in existence works like this. The only thing that's different in various games is how easy it is to cancel animations by changing your input.its the lack of realistic physics engine. as i pointed out theres a video explaning why physics doesnt work in madden or fifa - its tied to the circle below the player and not the player animation. its a core deep issue that cant be fixed until they revamp it.
pes definitely relies on actual player physics, which is far different from fifa, correct me if im wrongLiterally every football game in existence works like this. The only thing that's different in various games is how easy it is to cancel animations by changing your input.
It feels less frantic to some extent, even compared to men's teams from lower leagues: I find it more enjoyable on the pitch.why do you like playing women side? never tried it
are u playing on authentic mode? it is less frantic. i think i just wouldn't identify or care..but maybe fatherly instincts w daughters would kick inIt feels less frantic to some extent, even compared to men's teams from lower leagues: I find it more enjoyable on the pitch.
On a different note, while it's true that there are way less teams featured (and I wish they added at least the Italian Serie A and a couple of northern European leagues), I think that they've made a bigger effort in trying to recreate them (more players, in proportion to men, had their head scanned for example).
I'm not into licences that much but this, in terms of playing a career mode now that it can be also done with women's teams, is a thing that makes a difference.

I don't think the new owners are to blame to this, FC in general has been a subpar franchise for the last couple of years and I think FC 26 was better received than FC 25.I've tried really hard with this game to like it, I mean REALLY hard but it's just not football. At all. I'm not a fan of the women's side of the game but in previous versions, the women's teams were actually more fun to play with because not everyone was a superhero and it slowed the whole gameplay experience down to being able to actually play. But in 26 they've given the women the same superhuman characteristics as the men so even that side is ruined now. I reloaded FIFA 23 and applied the final Operation Sports community slider set and the game is better on every level than any of the EAFC tripe. My hope has gone with this series, I don't ever see a way forward because if this is listening to the community, I don't know what we're going to get when their new Saudi owners go for maximum profit and we'll have the equivalent of turning Call of Duty into Fortnite, no genuine sim left for anybody.
Ea producer account:I’m really worried about these two aspects!
- AI defenders now have slower reaction times when marking the ball carrier, which can result in them leaving more space open while transitioning between actions.
- The CPU AI will not focus on maintaining possession as much as before.
And after 4 months there’s still no fix for the incorrect Serie BKT calendars in Manager Career Mode, and no mention of fouls despite the numerous feedback reports sent. Honestly, I’m disappointed.
Especially after they highlighted “WE LISTEN TO THE COMMUNITY”, which clearly hasn’t been the case in this first half of the football season.
They also boosted their social channels, but in practice nothing seems to have changed.
Really a shame.
What is the consensus "best" defending mode? Currently trying to learn tactical, usually go legacy. Im having a very hard time preventing the cpu from playing keep-ball all the time. World Class diff
It will never be football as enthusiast know. It is a game design choice.
Simple gamers doesn't want to chase the ball, so they glued to the players.
Simple gamers doesn't want to stop the flow every 30 seconds because of a foul, so they basically removed fouls.
Simple gamers want to easily pass and shot, so they made player body position, weak foot meaningless.
Simple gamers want to rate players easily so they went with overalls and not single attributes. A premier League centre midfield has better tackle than an experience championship centre back, that's it!
Simple gamers can put three advanced playmakers on midfield and have no trouble defending.
A football game should be fun and easy for the 90% of people. Only 10% could play a total realistic game, for tactical and player knowledge and attention span, in a 15 minutes half time with a rhythm similar to TV games.
Just get over with it.
