EA SPORTS FC 26

Maybe if they split Ultimate Team mode from the main game then they can have two FIFA games:

Ultimate Team- which is free but doesn't have any offline teams and is a gambling fest with ass tier gameplay.

FIFA and FIFA World Cup games- which have all the national teams and clubs and has serious gameplay. But the game isn't free and costs money, doesn't have ultimate team mode or any competitive online mode for that matter [can only play against friends or find matches in lobbies hosted by people].

They reportedly sold 10 million copies in the first 2 weeks, so how much of that $600 million in revenue would be lost by this proposal?

While we all of course would love this (and Konami did half of this proposal), the short term revenue loss probably would not get approval from the Board.

I agree with you in principle. Unfortunately, EA no longer has the FIFA licence.

This could potentially change with the Saudis' entry into EA. However, no one possesses a functioning crystal ball.

The sad news though: 2k has consistently drifted aways from being a simulation to a 'but the skill gap, bro!' game. Right now offline you can only score when you 'green' a shot (great-perfect timing). All depends on the user's input, individual player stats aren't as relevant. A player with good timing and a crap player will score more shots than a mediocre player with Steph Curry.
I thought you could simply disable shot timing and enable real world percentages in NBA 2k singleplayer modes.

Unfortunately, after the update and the difficulty adjustment that was introduced, the CPU now rarely attempts long-range shots. There are matches where it doesn’t take even a single shot from distance.

I tried every possible slider adjustment and method I could think of, hoping that maybe the issue could be fixed. But unfortunately, I couldn’t do anything about it. This problem comes from the game’s internal code and hidden sliders that we simply don’t have access to.

It’s truly tragic, laughable, and ridiculous that in the ninth generation of sports video games, we still have to deal with such basic and elementary issues. It’s honestly shameful.

I have submitted feedback about this issue to the development team on Discord, and I hope you will support this feedback. 🔽

CPU Long-Range Shooting Issue After Latest Update
For some reason, AI shots from long range seem to be back after the latest update, even though the patch notes were only talking about stability issues.

I really don't think that a split like this is a good idea in terms of benefits for them at all, just by looking how FC sells.
I ain't Nostradamus neither a marketing Einstein but it's sure that FC sales would decrease like automn leaves.
Don't understimate the games sales revenue and understimate UT benefits in their yearley money recepies.

Then, UT and Competitive got the same gameplay, only the mode and players stats boost changes.

Yeah, you can do that, but that's going from 100% manual to 100% auto with basically no agency whatsoever. Both extremes are not fun IMO.
It shouldn't be too hard to implement a better version, as evidenced by 2k having a better solution before catering to the onlines sweats.
Essentially a sim with an RNG element needs to work like this. % shot timing quality * % shot openness * player stats = shot probability + or - modifier for badges / status.

Finally purchased the game with the Black Friday Steam discount..

Played a few exhibitions.. And my impressions have been quite positive with Authentic mode. Maybe I'm one of the few ones who is enjoying it lol

Much less skating and foot planting. The animations feel more natural, 1v1 seems reduced, and the pace of the game doesn't feel too fast to me. I also like the tackling better so far.

A major gripe with the game (fairly enough, this has been the case for a many years in the FIFA/FC series), is how it's a chore to change commentary language now, as opposed to FIFA 18 and earlier..

But overall, I'm liking what I've played so far. Still early, and I haven't started a Career Mode yet (my bread and butter), plus the game is bound to be updated many times, but I can't say it hasn't been enjoyable IMO. Let's see how it continues.:)

It’s solid. And I think this thread needs a dose of reality. If you play this alongside FIFA 14, 16, 17, whichever one you think is the best, this holds up pretty well. In fact, it does some things better. And in fairness, some are a little worse, but on the whole it presents itself as a solid game.

Guys, do you also have this everything is too bright? Bought the game yesterday on a sale and man it looks terrible... Goal nets are too bright & unrealistic.. tried accessibility settings but it didn't change much ?

Inexplicably the graphics kind of suck. Certainly a step down from FIFA 17 and 18. It’s somewhere in the 11-16 range. Faces kind of look like the scene in Raiders of Lost Ark where their faces melt.

I believe the AI took a shot from here. This ball flew and ended up in my keepers gloves in the 6-year box. A simple catch, but I thought interesting. Was quite early in the game as well.

The AI do seem to use the wind with regards to their shots (the wind would've been behind the ball here, and they scored a superb long shot against the wind, using it to help the ball dip)

Trained the AI on Beckham clips apparently

If that's a real thing and not a bug, that's absolutely incredible.

10 games into my Aberdeen career. 0 fouls. 0 freekicks. None for me, none for the AI. Playing on legendary, 8 minute halfs, authentic mode. Add some visual glitches on top of that too, like the adboards reflecting halfway into the pitch (even in daylight), the ball looking deflated in gameplay cam sometimes, and tucked shirts are clipping trough the shorts. This is how I'm welcomed into "next gen gaming".

edit: Oh yeah, the replay of a goal sometimes just shows the center circle of the pitch instead of.... the goal!

It's because both Human/CPU when they make a tackle either completely miss, or get the ball perfectly. There is barely any mistimed tackle that results in collision or tackling the player instead of the ball.

:/

Tried the latest OS sliders and the game instantly improved. Creds to Matt10 and the people who are putting up with testing!

Authentic mode sliders need to be improve.
The lack of fouls is the big issue

I hope they will fixed this on the frost update, in december. In FC 25, you could have many fouls, not in FC 26.

It’s typical for EA football games to have a remarkable deficiency in fouls, but 26 takes the cake. In fact, this years game has many problems on and off the field that I can’t believe haven’t been ironed out yet. However, after finally getting my authentic sliders set I’m finding the game to be a bit moreish and one of the better EA football games.

Dammit, here I am pulled in yet again. Will this be the one I finally get a good career mode going after a decade? Maybe there's some music to authentic mode after all. I'm splurging tomorrow.

If there's any time to savour the flavour of FIFA, it is now. Evoweb patch for PES21 is gone and virtuared is not here yet.

Curious as to how I'll kick on with this. Is there any way (on console) to get AC Milan and other unlicensed Italian teams "right"?

Tried to edit ac milan kit today there is no option to do so as far as I can see in edit mode

Are wild speed fluctuations still common?
Started up the game today and I swear, it felt like 15% faster than just a few days ago (using same sliders and settings, etc)..

It's one of those things I've always told myself is in my head because I don't see a reason for it - and yet it happens a lot.

I've also seen it explained away by "every team / match should feel different" - but the physics shouldn't! Yet that's what it feels like (suddenly the ball moves as if it's half the weight).

I think it's more likely that sprint / acceleration speed dictates (and breaks) the game "feel", by impacting more than just the player's momentum. Either that or there's a random speed multiplier for every game, but I really doubt it.

I think there's a similar mechanic going on with certain settings "under the hood"as is the case with PES21. Lots to be gleaned from Twiggy's gameplay thread in the editing section.

This is probably happening due to the attribute boosts from the skill/training games. There is literally a section of runtimes dedicated to increasing/decreasing various attributes based on your training performances and all.

As they say in IT, if it’s not repeatable, it’s not a bug.

Yes this Is well documented. @Anth James has a whole essay on it.

As to why this occurs, I suspect it’s related to skating. It’s the inability to reconcile animations and player movements with expected outcomes. The very reason why PES21 feels rigid is why it looks more realistic - players are “locked” into an action. You can also see these wild speed bursts when the player “locks on” to a pass or when a passed defender miraculously catches up to a winger.
